It seems this editor of the Red Bluff Daily News has a say on moral choices and denying communion to the secular who support anything contrary to the faith.

This is a good thing imo. Means you support equal rights, reproductive rights, and so on.

In fact I dare say that is a reason to vote for the guy. Though I realize a lot of backwards people don't see it that way.

Makes me sad that this will actually matter to a lot of voting-age adults.

I saw this a couple of days ago. Doesn't this kind of make the priest a piece of shit based upon the religion of Christianity?

Communion is supposed to be a ritual of Jesus dying for your sins so that you may go to heaven. Denying someone because they support something that you do not agree with is essentially denying them Jesus's gift of washing away their sin with his blood and you being the decider of whether or not Jesus saves them. Basically the priest put himself in the place of God that day. Or at least that's how I see this. He basically went around the room saying, "You're worthy of God's grace, you're worthy, you're worthy, you are definitely not worthy, you're worthy, etc."

I would consider it an honor to be denied anything by the largest pedophilia organization in the world.

Appropriate and hillarious.

How can anyone have so little knowledge of the absolute basics of his own denomination. What a dummy.

@heathen75: That’s certainly how I see it. I’m not sure why Catholicism is still relevant as some moral authority after the massive scale of their pedophilia and the even more massive coverup was exposed to the world.

Well technically the priest didn't follow the rules so there is that.

Oh really? I didn't know that. Scanned the Hill article and they seemed to think it was all pretty much above board, and even necessary, but to be fair, I don't know if that's a respectable source.

Should probably mention that I'm not religious at this point, but it's not for lack of options. There are so many denominations out there that you can find one for pretty much any conceivable position, especially on the abortion question. Biden might well be a christian, but he's going to have an impossible time convincing Catholic voters that he's one of them.

I wonder if this priest would do the same to someone who committed adultery or been divorced several times.

Good place to start would be boycotting Nintendo. Those guys really lay the Catholic symbolism on thick.

@horgen: Ha! I definitely had Trump in mind, but would ask this about anyone who committed those acts.

That's the statement the church wants to go with, huh? They have the right to refuse service to whom they choose based on their piety?

No wonder it's dying.

@judaspete: If the priest knows for certain a person is doing this, as in 100% certain, then he should not give the person communion.

Biden should be denied communion because he is a public figure who openly supports abortion.

@Chutebox: Sure he should, but would he? Many congregations have been turning a blind eye to divorce for some time now since it's become so common.

Any cult can set their own rules. If the leaders of this particular cult are ok with it then who cares? And if you aren't then find a different cult to join. Seems rather simple.
