"Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) late Thursday raised $1 million for Texas relief organizations that are working to help the people suffering from the record-setting winter storm, and said she will make a trip to Houston this weekend."

https://www.google.com/amp/s/thehill.com/homenews/house/539550-ocasio-cortez-raises-1-million-for-texas-relief-plans-trip-to-houston%3famp

Not bad at all for a days work. I'd be interested in what Republicans here think about this especially in contrast to Ted Cruz going to Cancun to get out of the Texas power failures and the mayor telling his constitutes that nobody owes them anything.

@horgen: it's only socialism if they don't like it I'm afraid.

Maybe, but then you need to accept that AOC did more for Texas than Cruz in this instance. :P

That is a good use of one's position of power. Nice work.

And before the cynics come in to say it's just stunt to pump up her public image, sure you may be right. But it's more useful than anything Ted Cruz has done.

If that's the case she would've been more successful with Red Cross, rather than Act Blue.

This is what politicians should be doing.

Not saying their constituents can "tough it out".

Not flying to Cancun then using your daughter as an excuse when you get caught.

Not seizing this as some opportunity to say "See!?!?!? Republicans are bad, vote Democrat".

No, politicians should be getting off their asses and working for the people. This is great, I only wish it was somehow a bipartisan effort, like AOC and Mitt Romney or something lol.

Ted Cruz will probably manage to raise more money for himself when he sends out emails about how the libs are trying to get him ousted and he needs your support to stop them from taking your guns away and making your kids gay.

@vl4d_l3nin: they need to boot his ass. He should have been at home rallying his influence and getting help for people.

Even if he got there the day before it happened, and there was no way he could have known. He should have been on the phone and on his way home immediately before he got shamed into it by the media

Before she was AOC, she was Sandy the bartender.

I just think Sandy is a cute name. It suits her. She is kinda cute.

Ah kind of like how Barack Obama used to go by "Barry".

I wonder why she decided to go by Sandy.

Yeah I kind of figured as much. Also his whole "Sandy is a cute name. It suits her. She is kinda cute" belittling of her only adds to this, like "Oh look at the cute girl thinking she is a politician, it's like she thinks she is a person".

If the effort is to provide indisputable evidence of my claim so that it very plainly becomes fact instead of opinion, you're doing a great job of it.

Classic strategy from right-wing trolls.

Person A: *says something ambiguous but negative.*

Person B: hey, wait a minute, that's not right.

Person A: woh woh woh, I don't know what you're talking about! Hey you need to relax *inserts mocking insult*

Person B: *defends self*

Person A: woh woh woh, it was just a joke. Man you have no sense of humor.

As a Texan I can say this....

AOC just owned the entire Texas GOP and they know it. They are infuriated.

And she is now well liked in Houston.

The Texas GOP keeps going like it is and it's losing the state. And that has ramifications for the presidency.
