The only thing that is dumb in this thread is assuming other people are dumb. AOC is not dumb nor are her detractors.

Which this statement has no proof and you are peddling a right wing conspiracy theory.

Watch videos of the Justice Democrats, then rewarch videos of AOC. You will see she regurgitates the same talking points.

You should change the title of the thread to "Justice Democrats aren't Dumb, they Got AOC elected."

Doesn't mean she is an actress. Once again, you prove my point.

The only point you have proven in this thread is that you are lovesick puppy that will defend his favorite waifu even if that means ignoring the truth that is smacking you over the head.

Who do you think came up with the Green New Deal that AOC sponsored?

Originally, Thomas Friedman, who called himself a "radical centrist".....try again.

So resorting to racist and sexist memes, attacking her intelligence, creating conspiracy theories about her, sending death threats, misrepresenting what she says, political opposition showing gross disrespect to her.....thats not dumb?

And notice I have said most of her detractors, because there are some smart ones that disagree with her views but admit she has political skill.

That's who coined the term.

It was actually drafted by the Justice Democrats.

What's dumb is labelling any criticism of a public official as wrong. That's incredibly stupid and somewhat fascist. Yes, there are dumb people who use racist and sexists insults about her, but there are also many people that have legitimate concerns about her - including members of her own party. Get some backbone.

But once again, did I label ANY criticism as wrong....once again, read my topic title. I said MOST, not ALL, detractors. Hell I actually said she made a couple mistakes.

MOST of AOC's detractors (and I mean not just positions, but her career and political life), that I call dumb, are right wing nut jobs, Trump supporters, conservative media. Facts are facts, conservative media talk about her and bash her disproportionately, much of the time attacking her inappropriately like Tucker Carlson last night.

Amazon has reportedly withdrawn from the New York deal anyway.

@ronvalencia: Right wing advocacy group, nothing to see here.

Second, the Amazon Deal would have gentrified her district (although the campus itself would not be in her district), raised already high rents, and would have made the housing crisis worse. Amazon also has a history of mistreating its workers.

There was significant opposition in Queens. Its also state senator Ginaris, not AOC, that led to the deals demise.

Lastly, tax breaks are somewhat of a "revenue cost" that could have been spent elsewhere.

Right wing idiots HAVE to take every little gaffe she makes, and run all the way to the ends of the universe with them, because they can't beat her in the idea's arena, or out smart her otherwise, so they lie, and smear her.

The Amazon new york deal was trash, people said it was a standard deal for new york, and all I have to say about that... Get higher standards, new york.

@texasgoldrush: ‘conservative media talk about her and bash her disproportionately’

You mean like how Liberal media (aka mainstream media) bash Trump/supporters and go on two year fake witch hunts?

AOC has earned her rubbings by being and anti capitalist (in America?), fear mongering, and divisive. She’s also a politician.

Trump is President of the United States, and has opened himself up to criticism for various things, so the media coverage of him is not disproportionate.

AOC is a backbencher with 3 months of political experience, even though very outspoken and skilled, while many other Democrats have or had more official power. She is not Barack Obama, Hilary Clinton, Joe Biden, or Nancy Pelosi. Therefore it is very highly disproportionate to cover the amount right wing media covers her.

I think the real reason is you Trump supports are so threatened by any chance people like her will be the future leaders of this country. As for the "socialist" bit, why does right wing media like to go after AOC more than Sanders, who has a real actual chance of being President? There is a white nationalist angle to this.

U.S. Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez says the $3 Billion in tax breaks that Amazon apparently won't be using should be used for other funding like teachers and subway upgrades which is stupid when 3 billion of tax breaks doesn't exist without taxable income in the first place!

You don't get it.

The fact is that Amazon did NOT need the tax break, and any taxes they could have paid would paid for the subways and teachers. Really, why does amazon need 3 Billion in tax breaks when they are already an extremely successful company? She may have been wrong thinking they were subsidies, but she is not wrong in saying Amazon doesn't need the incentive. And she is kinda not wrong saying that 3B could have been spent elsewhere if Amazon did come.

Next, the tax breaks were NOT the only reason why AOC opposed the deal, which once again, the NYC housing crisis being worsened as well as their labor practices also as reasons. The REAL truth is that corporate Democrats failed to listen to the resistance of local communities and ignored the spanner they put into the works until it was too late.

NY-14 dumped Crowley for AOC for a reason.

@texasgoldrush: NPC meme in full effect here boys. If you aren’t a Democrat supporter, you’re a ‘white nationalist’. AOC says and does a lot of stupid things - THAT’S why the Right goes after her. No one brings up her ethnicity as a negative so you’re grasping at straws here.

Bernie was dragged by the mud by conservative media. It’s old news now. If he gains traction in two years, we’ll go after him again. Trust and believe.

Stop being ignorant. So the REPUBLICAN she brought to her town hall is a white nationalist? I think not. However, much of the criticism of AOC is from white nationalists and its ignorant to think that it hasn't corrupted the GOP. And yes, at CPAC they did use her ethnicity in attacks. There is no grasping at straws here.

Once again, the Right likes to take her out of context, misinterpret her, and overblow her small errors. Your side is the ones being the real morons. It is your criticism of her that do not hold up to scrutiny. Once again, the real reason for the attacks is that the Right is afraid of her, there is no other reason to constantly go after a backbencher otherwise.

And you want to talk about saying stupid things, look no closer than right wing media. "Three Mexican Countries"...lol

@texasgoldrush: White nationalists also drink and bathe in water. Better find an alternative or you’re one by association. The GOP, PotUS, and most conservatives disavow white nationalism. Quit rambling off the NPC rhetoric. It’s tired and dumb.

‘overblow her small errors’

This made me chuckle. 25k lost jobs, no new tax revenue for infrastructure, and a Green Deal even her party won’t support are just ‘small errors’. I guess misappropriating campaign donations is a small error too, right? The FEC doesn’t think so.

Face it, AOC will be a one term head scratcher. Her Amazon debacle will simply be too easy for an opponent to beat her on. Voters like jobs.

Does Trump truly disavow it? I think not. His speeches and policies reek of white nationalism.

Once again, AOC and her fellow Dems used a strategy to not divide the caucus during the Green New Deal Vote in the Senate. Your failure to recognize this is ignorance. Most of the Dem candidates for President, and every Senator running, has supported the Green New Deal. And once again, the GND has majority support across the US.

Really? AOC's district is D+29, thinking she will be one term is delusional. And a poll today showed that NYC residents approve of her performance by 51% to 34%, and the demographics suggest the support would be even higher in her district, which she has 66% to 26% approval in the Bronx and 49% to 31% in Queens. She is NYC's most popular politician in that poll.

The unemployment numbers are fake. Trump said so during the campaign. He's using the same numbers now that Obama did then.

He didn't lie about them not being real did he?

Like raising the minimum wage to $15 an hour which forces business to cut hours, eliminate jobs, and go out of business. That is your economic plan. Like the the New Green Deal.

Oh wait.....

None of that has happened. The states that struggle the most are Republican states.

Like Kansas. Low taxes and low wages baby!!!!

@texasgoldrush: Funny thread you made here.

But it´s also funny that people spend so much time on someone they don´t like and provide them with a ton of Public spotlight that can only go to help her out in her next election in 2020.

Anyways hope she enjoys her time in the spotlight, as soon as we are past TDS and have a new president, no one will care what she or her cohorts have to say.

https://www.bloomberg.com/opinion/articles/2019-03-28/aoc-has-lessons-for-republican-insurgents-in-congress

You may be better served by saying SOME and not MOST. And one of the last criticisms I read about her was on CNN by a fellow democrat who was lamenting her poor understanding of foreign affairs in the middle east and her belief in a false theory about a secret half trillion dollar miltary slush fund.

I know you didn´t ask me but allow me to participate with an idea on who came up with that proposal because it´s obvious that is was made up by a bunch of weed smoking, tripping hippies in a rainbow coloured WV bus on the way to "remake Woodstock 2018".

AOC's maths problems spreads among the Democrats with Kamala Harris wrongly thinks the unemployment rate is low because people work multiple jobs.

I do know one of the main reasons unemployment is low because it mostly fell from 2010 to 2017 Jan, due to Obama.

Nope, quite the other way around. Also this.

Thanks for posting that TED talk. I had not seen that one before and it was very insightful.

And currently, you are right about solar panel waste. Solar panel recycling is an industry in it's infancy, but it will grow and improve over time. Like e-waste recycling in general.

Red herring to AOC's and Kamala's math problems.

As for your Obama argument.

Trump admin doesn't need Federal Reserve Bank to inject cash into the system aka Federal Reserve Bank's Quantitative Easing.

Or how about CEOs and top level managers cut their pay and actually pay workers better?

Would cut into profits and how well they can pay their shareholders.

Yet Germany has a cap on CEO pay and their economy is doing just fine. The rest of the world has far less ridiculous CEO pay rates than America and they do just fine. And Nintendo has done this just fine.

And the focus on paying shareholders instead of workers is how we get crap like Anthem....lol

That's exactly as abyssally naive a comment as one who says AOC is smart could make. Way to argue in favor of her supporters' economic literacy lol

See above comment.

@JimB: lol. Thanks for the second belly laugh.

except for the first bush recession, and the second bush recession, and the recession the economy is headed towards now. Luckily we've always had democrats in charge to rebuild the economy so a Republican can **** it up again.

Or how about CEOs and top level managers cut their pay and actually pay workers better?

For US education sector, run away overhead cost driven by unions and extreme profit corporatism. Needs Sweden's education funding model that shifts government funding from education corporate/unions to parents.

During the Obama term the number of people who quit looking for made his unemployment rate look good the number was 100,000,000. Now that number has fallen under Trump and there are more jobs than people to fill them. That is economic success.

CEOs take the bulk of their pay from dividends and stock options whose estimated value rises with their performance, not cash.

Germany's legal salary cap is almost twice as high as the average combined salary the CEOs of the top 30 german companies make.

The fact that their economy is doing just fine has nothing to do with how much money CEOs or minimum wage workers make.

Also, weren't you the guy arguing about how good DA2 and ME3 were years ago? No wonder you understand nothing of economics either lol

@N30F3N1X: Doesn't change the fact that CEO's in the US make a disproprotionate amount of money compared to the rest of the world.

"The fact that their economy is doing just fine has nothing to do with how much money CEOs or minimum wage workers make."

Which proves my point that you do not have to have overpaid CEO's and underpaid workers for the economy to succeed.

That's not a red-herring, because I'm not refuting your statement or debating with you.

I'm merely giving you complimentary data.

@ronvalencia said:

Not an argument. I'm posting facts on unemployment rate, as you mentioned.

@ronvalencia said: "wrongly thinks the unemployment rate is low because people work multiple jobs."

I'm simply adding supplemental data to your statement. A majority of the unemployment drop and employment gain occurred from 2010 to 2017 January. This is when the rate actually got low:

As for your twitter citation with "MAGA" at the end, I'll think I'll use the official US data on this rather than a "MAGA" tweet:

Facts are facts.

P.S.

Trump and GOP promised economic growth much better than Obama's. That's not what happened

1. I'm glad you admit I was right about unemployment. Thanks Obama! Btw, AOC is wrong. I agree. Good thing she's not President or even that important.

2. Trump used the tax cuts for that boost, which cost us a lot. Too bad that didn't last long. 2019 and 2020 are having some poor projections. Like the article said,

Trump and GOP promised economic growth much better than Obama's. That's not what happened

@ronvalencia: Do I need to go over Trumps false statements? He can't even tell the truth about where his father was born, guess it must be the windmill cancer.

All politicians have false statements, and yes, AOC is wrong, but that doesn't make her stupid. Politicians can rattle multiple falsehoods in debates very quickly. Also that specific statement happened very early, well before she was inaugurated.

Solar would be a wonderful way to go if it was a realistic approach. Whether a business or a 1500sq ft home, think of how many panels would be needed and where would you put all of them? Is it worth it to go through the expense for eliminating only a small portion of on grid power? If I'm doing it I want tobe fully off the grid in terms of depending on a power utility company.
