3 killed, 12 injured, shot an ak47 into a crowded venue. Only reason it wasn't more was because police were close to or on site, and killed the gunman within a minute. What else would you call it?

According to Pelosi, at least 4 people need to have been shot for it to be considered a mass shooting.

California has some of the strictest gun laws around yet this happened. It’s nearly impossible to buy a gun in a Chicago yet there is more gun violence there then any other city in the US. It’s also a city dominated by Democrats.

The point is that mass shootings make up an extremely small percentage of homicides by firearms. Much less than 1%.

I think its fair to point out that many people and the media, only speaks out when its a "mass" shooting (it was 3 in this case) but say nothing for the more typical act of gun homicide. No one speaks out when 30 shootings happen in a single weekend in Chicago.

But this lunatic will break headlines across the nation because it feeds a narrative people drool over.

@zaryia: I'm no against that neccesarily. The problem is the way the Bill's are introduced and are often made as gateways for strict gun control. I'd have to see a specific bill though to see if I was willing support it. For an example one law was passed that if you were put on a ( no fly list) you couldn't own a gun. The problem is nobody could tell you what put you on the " no fly list" .

No legislation will stop someone on a suicide mission. Just like how no legislation is going to stop a felon from getting a gun if they want one. Your legislation and laws only have an effect on people who follow the law.

Legislation could be the difference between someone on a suicide mission with an AK 47, and someone on a suicide mission waggling a knife. Also if there is improved regulation that means weapons are better tracked and accounted for, which means less likelihood of them finding criminals instead of well meaning individuals.

Several modern countries have much tighter gun control and are not like Nazi Germany. In fact those countries have higher quality of life and HDI than USA at the moment. Gun Control works.
