43-year old Brazilian politician Ana Paula da Silva was recently sworn in as a member of the Santa Catarina state assembly, becoming one of five women to serve in the assembly. But her accomplishment of being voted in took a back seat to what she wore when she got sworn in:

Needless to say, she has received a little bit of criticism. She also got some praise for her outfit as well.

She has defended herself, stating that this is how she likes to dress and that she will continue to wear outfits similar to the above picture.

I thought people were going to talk about [the] red [outfit], but they just focused on cleavage. Women have breasts and I have big breasts.

She has also threatened to sue people that sent her extremely aggressive messages, and to donate the proceeds of any successful lawsuits to a charity that helps abused women.

What do you think, are people overreacting or do you think she should have picked something slightly less revealing?

It's not really our business. In her shoes I would have picked something different. But again, who cares? Jair Bolsonaro is president. Brazilians have slightly bigger problems I think.

It's more or less what I expected from a politician in Brazil.

I generally expect my politicians to dress well, but ultimately don't care. They could show up in shorts and a shirt (I would) and still do their job; maybe even do it better since they're not in some uncomfortable suit.

If that is what she is comfortable in, let her wear what is comfortable.

Edit: In fact, I should praise her for doing this. If people are so thin skinned, that the outfit someone wears is a scandal. I think people need a swift kick in the rear.

Brazil has much bigger problems than what the politicians are wearing.

- Virtue signalling her identity

- Threatening to sue left and right

- Thinks her middle-aged breasts are a lot more appealing than they actually are

Hmm, for a 43-year-old she is not half bad.

But Brazil has bigger problems than that so perhaps they should spend more time on their social issues than on what a woman is wearing in 2019.

I'm sure the reason she was elected was so she could dress in a way that appeals to people's tender sensabilities, and nothing else.

But again for her age, she is not bad and she looks better than someone much younger like Cyrus who also wore a revealing dress.

I like it a lot! Maybe because I'm reaching my 40s, total support.
