Actress Alyssa Milano wants to protest new abortion laws by calling for sex strike

The tweet is in response to recent events, especially with Georgia’s governor signing a bill into law outlawing abortion after a heartbeat is detected. The bill is being challenged in court as we speak.

While this #sexstrike appears to target Republicans that pushed for the bill, many of them probably have wives and girlfriends that are also pro-life and will not participate in the strike (if they’re not having sex, the strike isn’t the reason why). This strike seems to have a better chance of stopping pro-choice men that are on their side from getting laid.

Why not just use two forms of birth control, one for the male, one for the female, if she's that worried about getting pregnant? It's like adults can't figure this out or just prefer to be lazy and irresponsible when it comes to safe sex.

While true, do you think any of their side pieces will participate in the strike, especially if money is involved?

Worst case scenario, if we want to assume those politicians are hypocrites and have their mistresses get abortions if they become pregnant, it’s a short drive/flight to the nearest pro-abortion state.

In my opinion, this is going to hurt the pro-choice men out there more than the pro-life ones.

The idea isn’t to prevent an unwanted pregnancy by safe sex, the idea is to tell sex-starved pro-life men that they will have to repeal their anti-abortion laws if they ever want to get laid again.

I think the Georgia law would be struck down by the supreme court. Roe vs. Wade legalizes abortion. These are just attempts to find ways around that, but i doubt even the republican dominated supreme court would reverse that decision. There are better ways to prevent abortion then outlawing it. Promoting better sex education and awareness would be a start. Birth control, etc. Besides, you can't legislate morality. Religious people just never seem to get that point. If you feel something is wrong, then dont do it. You dont need a law.

Well I'm Catholic and I believe you can't legislate morality. My dad, in fact, always said that. Each person makes their choices in life and we aren't all going to agree with them. The problem with making abortion illegal is that it doesn't end it and causes deaths due to the nature of the situation.

I absolutely agree with you. If a person is against abortion, then don't have one. But that's a moral decision that each individual has to make for themself.

I think Alyssa Milano has really put all women down by her comment. She is implying sex is one sided and done only for the enjoyment of men.

Perhaps that is her situation. But, the vast vast vast majority of women have sex because they enjoy sex and want it.

Like I said earlier, your average pro-life voter is probably dating or married to someone that that is also pro-life and as such would have no reason to join a pro-choice sex boycott. The sex lives of the men Milano are mad at probably haven’t changed.

The women that are boycotting are just (not) screwing their pro-choice partners over and are unlikely to willingly have sex with someone they know is a Trump supporter even if a boycott was not going on.

Also, not all Trump supporters are pro-life. I personally think trying to ban abortion is asinine, even though I would prefer that people practice safe sex so it is less likely they have to consider abortion in cases that don’t involve incest, rape, or serious birth defects.

I think the problem is where do you draw a line for abortion, like some people want full term abortions and some only 6 weeks.

Didn't happen in 2016, won't happen in 2020. Trump is disastrous for the country as a whole but he's pretty much been a godsend to Blue states. Here in NYC we're about to get universal health care, the minimum wage has gone up to nearly double the federal minimum at $15/hr, college is free for NYC residents and even though momentum stalled on the legalization of recreational marijuana, the NYPD won't bother you if you freely smoke it in the street. Personally that covers all of my bases.
