Ok, So I bought a used PS3 and hooked it up and changed the name of the previous owner to mine, and I played Infamous, beat it and everything was ok.

I made a PSN account and tried to log in and got the error in the title, how do I fix this without losing my saved game data?

1. Back up your game data - This is how you can do it

2. Create a new XMB profile.

3. Upload data on new profile

4. Sign in or create PSN

Pretty much the PS3 menu.

When you log on, it prompts you to log in to an existing user. Just create a new one. Thats what i meant by "Create a new XMB profile"

Is a 2gb USB enough for a whole system reserve.

I only have 3 games Infamous, Bioshock, and Fallout 3 saved data/patches.

He doesn't need to back up his saves then since it's on the same system. (I think.) Just create a new user and make a new PSN profile. The saves should still be there and if not then you still have the other user to go back and copy everything.

No, the saves won't be there. I've tried.

Then all he needs to do is copy the saves over onto the stick. You make it sound like he has to do a full system backup. (Which would be far more than 2GB)

That's what i essentially said. I just put everything in detail because i thought it would help him out more with understanding the process.

Yeah, upload the saves on new profile, and you should be able to log into PSN just fine.

And you can delete your old profile if you want.
