yeah the new game starts as soon as the last one ended. its a really cool game. i played it and beat it for the first time at a friends house playing co-op and i think this is an excellent game. intense start to finish, and the cool guns provided excellent strategy throughout which is definitely needed because you can die a lot and very easily. also the graphics are actually really good and i would say definitely comparable to games like cod4 since there is far more physics going and things like windows break very realistically. i say go buy it. the online is still very active too.
You should play it like the others have said, since it is a great game but storywise, it is paper-thin. You could just read the synopsis on wikipedia and your set. There is not much to it at all. Basically it's your standard alien invasion story with a teenie-tiny twist and a cliffhanger ending.
I know it is sad to say, but Resistance made me like 1st person shooter games....I was very much against most 1st person games and my friend got it with his system at the launch...since then I am a changed person thanks to Resistance....basically what I'm saying is that it's worth the play.

That's exactly what happened to me. Before I played Resistance I never liked FPS games, now they're my favourite genre.
I wouldn't say it's a very complicated story. It's basically your average aliens invade earth story, however the main character has some special powers when the aliens tried to turn him into an alien.
Saying that, it doesn't take long to complete, and what else are you going to play in the mean time? :P
I bet the recap what happened in the first one at the beginning of 2 but if i was u and ur wanting to get 2 then u should at least rent 1. I would buy it cuz the story was solid. Online was fun. I dont know if many play online now though cuz its been months since i did. U can get it on amazon for 15 and under.
