I downloaded the update last night  and everything seemed fine.  I get home from work today and slide in Pirates on Blue-Ray and Nothing happens...I put in another movie and try it out and nothing.  Games work fine and standard DVD's work fine but my blue ray's wont show up.  I have a 1080p samsung LCD, and my ps3 is hooked up via HDMI, has anyone else had this problem or if anyone can help it would be much appreciated.

Im guessing your TVs are not HDCP compliant and thus are not allowed to show BD content. This is why its very important you choose only the best TVs.

No thats not it, ive had my tv for 8 months now, its the samsung ln-s4095dx. Ive watched plenty of bd's on it before, i own about 15 bd's already and i've watched each at least once without a problem until the new update came out. ever since then ive tried pirates 1, pirates 2, training day, and night at the museum each at least a couple times and none work anymore.

Isn't the default option automatic? Atleast that's what it was for me when I checked it today. So I would think setting that to off would help compatibility more incase the PS3 thinks the tv supports 1080p24hz and causes a blank screen.

yes you need to turn it off.. it most likely means your tv does not support 24hz..it should fix this problem

if you know smeone else who has a ps3 or blu ray player you might want to try the disc on their's.  it could just be a problem with that disk since your games and dvd's are still working okay.
