Why doesn't Hulu work anymore on the PS3?

I have a home theater and was all set to watch a show on Hulu using my PS3, but get a message saying it wouldn't work. Searching online showed some workarounds like playon, but those don't work that well cause I'd be going from wireless on my laptop to a wireless PS3 connection. I just brought my laptop into the theater and bypassed the PS3.

What I don't understand is what possible reason there'd be for blocking PS3 users from watching hulu videos. Wouldn't Hulu want more traffic on their site? I don't think advertisers care whether the people viewing are using a PS3 or laptop. Who would benefit from blocking it?

wasnt hulu on the ps3 a trail promotion thing. then after a a certain amount of time it was gona stop working and you had to pay for hulu on the ps3 then. i rly thought thats how it was supposed to be. i never used it cuz if anything i got playon and that works greatevilmaster2424

I used the PS3 for years with hulu without any issues. From what I can tell it stopped working in 2009, but I don't understand why. Why would hulu care if I watch the shows on the PS3 or plug my laptop into the TV?

They messed with the video capabilities of the browser so that you'll be forced to subscribe to Hulu+ if you want to watch Hulu on your PS3. Which sucks, because I don't watch Hulu, but I can't watch my... other videos.jakecufc8888
