i own this and dead rising and I prefer Lost Planet to Dead Rising. Dead Rising had a great concept but the actual execution of the game fell short. I hated the broken save system, i hated the timer (its a sandbox game you should be free to roam however you like!), the survivor npc AI was horrible, i hated going to the same places again and again and again just to get the same items/weapons that keep breaking, i hated all the little nitpicky acheivements (games like Bioshock and Halo 3 have the best acheivement sets IMO). I think the review that IGN gave Dead Rising sums up my opinion on the game the best... 7.8 out of 10.
I would give Lost Planet an 8 out of 10. Solid straightforward shooter with very good graphics. I really liked the mech combat and I liked the online multiplayer elements. Oh and it didn't make you have to die and replay the game from the beginning just to get the experience and powerups you needed to progress through the game (cough cough Dead Rising!). Hopefully they'll listen and fix the flaws for the next Dead Rising, that will most likely come out for the 360 AND Ps3.
It'll be a nice solid addition to the PS3. God, only in the forums would you get complaining for something like this. Street Fighter 4 is coming out ... sheesh.
