Who here bought a 40gig?...

....and actually enjoys it despite it not having BC?

80 and 60gb consoles aren't exactly as easy to get as they once were.. and i don't think Backwards compatibility is really a huge deal for me. I'm deciding whether to just go ahead and get a 40gb or wait until another SKU comes.

I did! I'm not really worried though, I mean there are plenty of great games to distract me until FF and GOW come out. The price diference between a 40 and an 80 is too big. Use the extra money to buy games.

Better a 40 gb than no ps3 at all... or worse, an xbox 360 :O

well the problem is...my 360 broke..and kept breaking, so i wanna get rid of it and get a ps3. i realize now that ps3 is the better choice.. BUt i really dont wanna go without a console until June, as lame as it might sound.

I have a 40 gigs and I also sold off my PS2 when i got it.

Reason being... there are enough good games on the PS3 to keep me busy and I already played a lot of the best games of the previous generation. So I don't really need the BC and quite frankly... I don't think you're gonna miss it much either.

So true, i cant decide....100 cheaper ( no PS2 BC ...and the only game left that i want to play and own is GOW II ....) i still have my PS2 with FFX, GOW 1....what should i do ??? sell that stuff and get the 40 G and get some games with that ???

Also , im the kind of person that always tries to get the best version of the stuff i buy....( in this case th 80G model ) but thats 100 bucks more...

I dont see the point in playing ps2 game swhen i can play ps3 games.

Well, the only true issue with the 40gb model is the BC, because hd space is upgradable (up to 120gb I think). I think 100 bucks would be better spent on PS3 games than on a backwarwds compatibility you won't even use. GOW will be coming to the Ps3 by the time you've finished playing all current games. And rumor has it it'll be better than all previous ones.

I had to settle for one.

Since my old 60 gig one was stolen :'( :'( and I bought the thing practically on launch week :'(.

But of course what made me more sad was that my brand new Disc of R&C Was inside the thing at the time >_< and I was HALF WAY THROUGH IT grrrr just made me so mad and i bet would make you mad as well :(.

They also stole my PS2 and just about every PS2 game I had strange thing is though They havent' stolen a single PS3 game and I mean they weren't hidden or anything they were just above the TV which they also left untouched, Strange that not that I'm complaining about it of course :P.

Still having something that you can't get anymore and a game you are on the way to finishing and enjoying very much and having to settle for a worse version of the same thing...well...having that happen on your birthday not pleasent :(.
