this may start a flame war.. you should try asking in the general games discussion, you would get a better range of answers from the people there

Well they both have lots of games, lots of GOOD GAMES too. One advantage to PSP is that it's games are region-free which I don't believe is the case with DS (correct me if I'm wrong somebody). Pretty much it comes down to whether you would rather play odd unconventional titles or more advanced, but conventional titles (though there are some unconventional games on PSP too).

GGD would be the best place to ask this, but since you're already here I'd say DS. Both are great systems but I've had more fun with the DS personally (get a DS Lite if anything).

If you take money out of the picture I would say psp. But it all depends on:

1. If you like ff7 as much as i do than PSP

2. If you like GTA than PSP

3.  If  you want a lot of cool features that are original than DS

4. If you want to watch movies on it than PSP

5. If you have a GBA and a lot of games than DS( and sell the GBA)

6.If you like kirby, LOZ, mario and pokemon than DS

7. If you like graphics than PSP

Ok DS also has no region code so yes you can play imports if that's your thing. I love my PSP, but I also have the DS. At the moment I would recommend the DS. The PSP is slowly working toward a good library I'm looking forward to the Castlvania games and FF Tactics. The DS is more affordable including the games and at the moment and has gained more of my playtime. So get the DS now and get PSP later on by then the game library should be worthy of the high price tag.

if you wanna get pick up and play games (ones that you can play nearly instantly when you want to) get a DS
if you want a portable console (note it's just like the real console!-with portable load times, not to troll or flame or whatever but unless you're pre-occupied with talking to people or watchn a movie on tv or somethin then some of the load times can be frustrating, honestly, but its not terrible with every single game) and want to view movies, get a psp

I have both, and well, thats what ive learned from having both.

Okay... I'll tell you what you should get. You should get the PSP. I even own a DS and would rather have a PSP. PSP is way cooler because you can put homebrew on it and play THE ORIGINAL SUPER MARIO BROS. 3!!! How awesome is that! Even though to put homebrew on you have to downgrade your bios, but its worth it!  Plus, if you own/know anyone that has a PS3 then you can hook it up and download original PS1 games like Syphon Filter(i know) and Gran Turismo(i think). Okay, now the DS. The only thing going for it is the sheer amount of puzzle games that don't suck. If you like puzzle games buy a DS. If you like more mature games (MGS) buy a psp. It's Simple! VERDICT: PSP!

It depends on what games you like, what extra features you require, and how much money you have. I bought a DS because I thought there would be a decent selection of classic Nintendo games (in the vein of Mario 64DS and Mariokart) there weren't nearly as many as I have thought there would be at 2+ years into the system's life. I just sold my DS and have a PSP in the mail. I'm not tired of the "hardcore" games that PSP offers and Nintendo is slowly ingoring. It really is personal preference because I believe the DS Lite is much superior in design as a handheld, but I don't want hundreds of minigame collections and "non-games". I wan't Socom, Daxter, FF7 CC, and MGS: PO.
