What needs to happen for you to buy a PS4?

I'm sure not all of you are getting PS4s at launch. Some of you have PS3 backlogs you want to take care of, some of you are short on funds, and some of you just aren't interested (yet).

So post if you're going to hold out or not, and if so, when will you finally get a PS4? If you won't, why not?

For me, I have a huge list of games I want to beat on PS3, considering that the PS4 won't be backwards compatible.

I also see myself playing Gran Turismo 6 for a long time. So whichever one comes first: I beat all of the games in my backlog, or Gran Turismo 7 gets released for PS4. That's when I'll step up to the next gen. 

What about you guys?

Day one for me.

Well, as long as there are no surprises such as DRM or used game fees and other nonsensical things, I'll probably buy one two to three months after launch. Then again, launch consoles are very faulty most of the time so I'm not sure and you have to take into account that the library at launch will be sub par in my opinion, (Second Son notwithstanding).

It already has Sony's best franchise confirmed on it so if it doesn't have any DRM crap, I'll buy it when it's cheaper and there are less hardware problems

Of the three next-gen consoles, the PS4 is the one I am the most interested in.

But...  That's even IF I buy a next gen console.  I don't know that I will.  I am getting older, and I only just got a PS3 this year.  My Vita isn't even quite a year old yet.  It just isn't looking like this is a good time to be thinking about a new console.

A few years from now, maybe, idk.  Knack is the only game that sounds appealing to me so far.  I guess the idea of a clean slate and starting fresh is also appealing.  I guess I don't really want to think about PS4 right now.  But at the same time, I'm aware of it, and just kind of listening to hear what people have to say about it.

Right now I'm more concerned about the state of the Vita, and whether it will just get discontinued one day because it isn't selling well enough.  If something like that were to happen, I'm not sure what I'd do next.  Maybe I'd buy a brand new PS3, or maybe I'd get a PS4 then.  Idk.  Maybe I'd even give the 3DS another chance if I missed handheld gaming badly enough.

I'll be getting it early release. I won't wait in a line on launch day.

I'm spending my money on building a gaming PC right now.  I'd also like to get a 50" 1080p TV.  So the PS4 will have to wait until next year.  It doesn't make much sense IMO to buy one at launch anyway - might as well wait until there's a good variety of games out for it.

When they release the slim model for a cheaper price and better hardware and have cheaper games........like they do every generation.

ill be gtting it no matter what i have moeny put away for it but 2 things i would like to see is voice commands and gesture funtions on it i think thats the only good thing about the new xbox but ps4 im buying right away but those are 2 important things i want on ps4

Pretty much saving the money for it. I will trade in my current PS3 and the games with it towards the PS4 as I did with all the previous generations. If the price is decent then I will purchase it on the first few days, otherwise It's going to have to wait.

I'll likely get it in the first few months (after last gen's launch of ps3/360 I'll also be getting a warrenty) of release.  Killzone looks pretty cool and I liked KZ2 and KZ3.  We'll likely get Uncharted 4, which is likely going to be pretty good.  I'm hoping the RPG they showed from Capcom at the PS4 announcement gets more coverage at E3, as I'm a big fan of Dragon's Dogma and am interested in what Capcom does with a new RPG next gen. 

Persona 5 is what needs to happen.:P

Need some games I'm actually interested in. That and I need to either save up some money, or just wait for a price drop.

At present, I've got a backlog of 50+ games. That's not counting the sure fire must buys(10) that I'm waiting for price drops on. Add to that 4-5 titles that have yet to release. I will be picking up the Quad in '16, at the earliest. I got into this gen late and I'm finishing late. It's the best method for me because by the time I'm ready for new hardware, I can get a console and a good collection of games on the cheap.

For me this gen was not all that great.  There were some great games but they still failed to bring in Next Gen like I had hoped.  Next gen the same thing. 

I WANT to experience a game with GREATLY increased A.I.

Something different. NOT JUST Better Graphics.  

I need to kill my backlog a little bit first. So probably won't even consider getting a PS4, until at least a year after launch. 

Not that I want to get off-topic here, but is anyone else here concerned that the home software of the PS4 might not be as good as the PS3's?  I mean what with all of the focus on social aspects.

I know it doesn't effect the games too much, but still I'm kind of wary of home software since the 360 dashboard became ad-haven.

Just don't be so anti-consumer. Beforehand, though, I'll want to get through some more current titles. Also, will wait for a price drop.

Gamers fail to support a console, it needs to have cable and TV and movie options and be a real multimedia device.

If not it's going to fail and I'm not going to waste money on a console that wont get support.

TBH it's releasing at an akward time for me as I'll be graduating college and moving back to my home state in Nov.  Once there I've got to start my new 60 hour (average) a week job, save up a security deposit for my own place, take over my car note, and start making the largest payments I can afford on roughly $10K in student loans.

Don't get me wrong, I'm 100% going to get a PS4 whether it has crazy DRM or not, but it might be for 6 months or so.  

X1 isn't even looking like an option right now.  I love movies but hate TV. 

When the line up gets increased because most games I can play on PS3. Watch Dogs,Assassins Creed 4,GTAV.

Hope when Uncharted,Ratchet and Metal Gear come out.

I can't afford it at launch, so I'll have to wait. But I saw a thread on system wars that you need ps+ to play multiplayer. I didn't see the entire stream, can anyone confirm or deny this?

SONY pretty much did what I had hoped all along that they would do, and that's listen to the voice of their consumers - And they did!

Where are the launch exclusives!!!!? Killzone, Drive Club, Knack and no gaikai aint gonna cut it. Was thinking launch buy but now I might hold off until Spring 2014. Don't get me wrong, I have the funds saved, however, I don't want my purchase sitting next to me collecting dust while I continue playing a superior fall/holiday lineup on my PS3. Every second spent on my PS3 will remind me of how I jumped the gun by buying a PS4 at launch without any launch games.

when there's good enough games out for it. with FFXV, it looks like i need to buy this day one...

I was getting the system regardless of what was shown at E3. The conference only reconfirmed that my loyalties reside with Sony.

So far the only game I'm really interested in is Killzone Shadowfall, and although I REALLY want the system (and will get it eventually), my PS3 still has plenty of life left and a good backlog. I plan on selling a few worthy collectibles to pay for the PS4. I'm psyched though!!

i need it so badly.

I'll wait until the games I want start to drop in price. The system isn't so expensive to me, but buying games at launch prices just doesn't sit well with my wallet.
