NBA 2K9 without a doubt, theres a reason why it's the #1 selling baller and highest rated too. If your going for a more realistic bball game go for 2K9, if you want it more arcadeish go for Live, and... just not NBA 09. 2K9 looks the best too..
I say NBA 2k9 if you want a more realistic type of gameplay. Both have 5 on 5 to my knowledge. I haven't played live since 07 though. 2k9 plays better than its demo. I've always thought of Live as a score fest, but i haven't played it since 07.
I've been a 2k supporter for a long time but this year I let a friend talk me into getting Live. I gotta say I like Live and all but it's not superb. It's crazy hard to play defense in Live and the load times are super long. If it weren't for those two factors I'd probably play it a lot more than what I have.
