You're grinding the plastic when you move the joystick. Especially when you have to do circular motions. Bayonetta must be kiling my left joystick.:P

Its from the stick rubbing on the ring around it, some of the plastic is wearing off. Nothing to worry about it happens to all analog controllers.

You mean, around the joystick, under the thumb pad? It's not coming out from anywhere, it's just the effect of your joystick rubbing against the sides of the controller. Basically, normal wear. Try taking it off with your index and check back some weeks after, it's going to be there again. It's just plastic dust.

Me either. I've never noticed it from any Sony controller from any generation of consoles.

It's your hand juices that dry on the controller over time. If you run a piece of paper or a toothpick along the crack on the side of the controller, you'd see it coming out of there.

I've just been noticeing that the last few days wondering just what it was, thought I had spilt flour or dust on it in some bizarre chain of events. I don't think its sweat or anything like that as its appearing where you wouldn't touch, I guess its just wearing something off.

I remember this happening with the n64 controllers.. after a while though, it would get so bad that it would hamper its ability to move about fluidly, so it does gradually become a problem.
