All fighting games are pointless fighting with no real purpose.

Tekkan is a bit easeir to get into, and you'll probably know more people who like it (and will play with you)..

VF is more technical, and less popular, so you might have to search for people to play..

They're both great

The top 2 fighting franchises (at least, in 3d) among most fighter afficionados (they do like there 2d ones)
You cant go wrong with either really, but you might have more fun with tekken if you've never played either.

Both are great competitive fighting games, first and foremost. Virtua Fighter wins the technical battle. There's a lot more to it, and if you live in the right territory (Japan), you can actually hit it big if you get really good. Being good at Virtua Fighter is the type of rewarding accomplishment that you don't see often in gaming. Tekken is the more stylish game. This helps it appeal to western audiences that can't be bothered learning or thinking about their game of choice - it still looks good and has over-the-top elements even if the players themselves aren't any damn good. The fact that it has a good level of mastery redeems it for serious players all the same. It all depends on what you're looking for - style and accessibility (Tekken) or depth and accomplshment (Virtua Fighter).

Street Fighter 3 wasn't on SNES, it was on Dreamcast and was later put on PS2 and Xbox, I think you mean Street FIghter 2.

For that to happen, MK2 would have to be more than the broken piece of crap it is. I'd much sooner play a good game offline than a bad game online.

Remember when fighting games had stories? Yeah those were the good old days. Well actually no Soulcalibur has a story, but that's it. Tekken's story hadn't changed at all in the last 2 games (actually I can't even really make myself care about Tekken's story as it's gotten boring) and VF hasn't had a story since the FIRST game.... because they just keep restarting it. "ooooh evil company starts a tournament to create the ultimate super fighter dural!" Same thing as the first game. Why is VF even bothering with the pretense anymore??

Dont get me wrong VF is a well made game but the characters are loosing personality now and tey didnt have a whole lot to begin with.

Oh yeah has anyone destroyed their controller yet? man this game can really get your goat.

i a virtua fighter fan all the way. I just picked up VF5 and its amazing. Its essentially the same game it has always been, just tons of customizations and i just still love playing the game since i started playing in the arcades years ago. The two new characters are great and the levels are breathtaking.

I dunno about the two new characters. The wrestler is pretty new but Eieleen just feels like a female version of Kagemaru. She's cute and all but I find myself playing her exactly the same way.

virtua fighter 4 on ps2 received a 9.3 score from gamespot. VF 5 got a low score of 8. i bought VF4 long ago because of the high ratings but the game didn't meet my expectation. for those that already played VF4 and VF5 are they very similar in terms of gameplay?

when i watched gameplay videos they look similar that's why i decided not to get VF5 from bestbuy. i don't wanna rent it because it cost $10 at blockbuster! forget renting!

Tekken is better imo. And Tekken actually has a pretty good story if you get into it (for a fighting game) escpecially if you've been playing it from the beginning.

VF5...if u want a whole lot of flashy jinpachi fireballs or easy moves to pull off where you can just button mash get tekken...if you want a more realistic fighter that takes time to master with better graphics get vf5

Tekken I guess. Can't go wrong with either one.
