I don't think so. I'm pretty sure most viruses are designed for Windows or Mac. So unless a virus is designed for PS3, no.

No. The PS3 OS can't run executable files. It runs specific limited softwares and formats. Even if a movie file or a picture is infected with a virus, the virus itself won't execute or affect the PS3 OS. The only thing a hacker could do is have knowledge about how the firmware of the PS3 work, in what language it is written and how does it run on the XMB and installs features. A hacker could program something similar to a PS3 firmware patch and do some unusual stuff and make the OS recognize the file as a firmware but still it wouldn't be close to be easily done. He needs to gain alot of infos about the system first. Don't worry, you're 99% safe.

Considering, 99.98% of viruses are written for Windows? I think you're fine. Viruses only look for Windows OS lines of code and like other people have said, exe, image or video files.

Firmware would be the only way like they did to the PSP. But, it auto downloads directly on the PS3 from Sony's servers anyways. So if you did get a firmware from some random site, then that would be your own fault.
