I don't think so. I'm pretty sure most viruses are designed for Windows or Mac. So unless a virus is designed for PS3, no.Pyramat2584ie.. a virus designed for Linux... which isn't really gonna happen.
Considering, 99.98% of viruses are written for Windows? I think you're fine. Viruses only look for Windows OS lines of code and like other people have said, exe, image or video files.
Firmware would be the only way like they did to the PSP. But, it auto downloads directly on the PS3 from Sony's servers anyways. So if you did get a firmware from some random site, then that would be your own fault.
