Valkyria Chronicles or Eternal Sonata

As anyone experienced in the JRPG market will tell you, they are completely different genres. One is the plain RPG, and its focused mostly on casuals, with a much wider appeal. Go for this if you plan spending time with a more traditional RPG.

Valkyira Chronicles belongs to the already closed community of SJRPGs, which are not easy games, require lot of time in customization, a single battle can be extremely long, which kills the sense of "progress" for some gamers, and they are not easy to get into.

So, try both demos, and decide for yourself if you are just waiting to decide based on the reviews. Im getting both, my copy of Eternal Sonata should be arriving next week and I already ordered VC for its release date. But from what Ive tried, Valkyria crushes Eternal Sonata as a game, both in its gameplay, graphics and musical departments (though the tracks in Eternal Sonata are really really good).

I feel depressed :( because no rpg games on PS3. I just ES demo version PSN on PS3. I feel heal. I want ES and beautiful 2D cell shade graphic. I ordered it from internet videogame shop. :D

Eternal Sonata has turn based hack and slash combat and a powerful story about a dying man's fever dream.

Valkyrie Chronicles (valkyrie intentionally spelled correctly) has turn based weapon combat and probably has a story of some sort, who knows. it's got the guy who did Skies of Arcadia working on it though.

in short, if you played both the demos and you still can't decide, you are beyond help.

yeah lol i am pinoy but i cant speak tagalog... i know i am a failure haha, i know kumusta and salamat but that about it...

back on topic, I think VC will pull ahead against ES just because of its innovative and new take on SRPG's...Obviously can't comment much on the story yet but I think the visuals go in ES's favor, they seem more vivid and lucrative than VC, IMO.

I liked both demos but think I might go with Valkyria Chornicles. Eternal Sonata might be a good game to pick up when the snow gets bad this winter and you get stuck inside.

(not to mention buying VC supports PS3 exclusives over getting a 360 port over!)

Some people will say VC just because it's exclusive though. Just like they did for Disgae. Eternal Sonata has a good story, good pace, good combat...VC looks like it might be a chore.

I love the old school feel of it. Looks great. Old school to me works good if its still 3D. I cant go back to side scrollers. But a game like this can have the old style look fantastic with these machines. Only the demo so far thow, so who knows?

But I say ES, if you are a JRPG starved fan on the Ps3

I player VC demo and i didn't like it, its way better Eternal Sonata, it has a nice touch

Ummm...cause its $64 each. Now if we were talking about which of two friends to save from a flaming volcano we wouldn't choose one or the other. Of course if we had to choose one in that case I would let both die just to be fair.

BTW, 2 games seems pretty good, but all haven't good graphic, ES looks like old school classic ps2 rpg games, VP is a tactic . BUt this is hard to choice, same same, count 1 to 100 and point to 1 game
