So this is some weird ass news...

No time table given, but apparently they are re-releasing MGS4 in August, so it will probably coincide with that.
Weird weird weird.
I replay the game at least once a year anyway, so I guess this won't hurt.

Well, I've never gotten into the series, and I'm kind of a trophy whore, so this might finally persuade me to jump into the game despite having not playing any of the prior ones :lol:SoNin360Then you should play the ones prior because I can guarantee that MGS4 won't have easy trophies.

I'd be like playing Infamous 2 before 1, and as you know from the sick ending of 1 that would totally ruin it.
HELL YEAHOH MY GOD THIS IS THE GREATEST NEWS EVER! I can't wait to rebeat the game and get the big boss emblem all over again!

Oh snap, I was just about to buy MGS4 to play it again, guess I'll just wait till August for the rerelease.
Wow. Just wow. I'm stunned. I do hope they indeed make a nice re-release of MGS4 with extra content. I love that game to pieces. And trophies are mandatory and will have to be included at that point if they do re-release it, so that's great. There's no way it's releasing in August though. Way, way too soon. That would be amazing, though. KurodaMurasakia re-release not needing the long install between chapters with trophy support and I'll buy it

I had to check the date to see if it's not April 1st. :P Hell yes!! Took four years but whatever. Better late than never. Trophies may be difficult but I'm all for it. I plat Metal Gear Solid 3 HD and am close to platinuming Metal Gear Solid 2HD and Peace Walker HD too so hopefully I'll have all four some day.
Very well done, Kojima. Thank you for listening to fans.
All I need now is a trophy patch for seven more games (Assassin's Creed, Devil May Cry 4, Folklore, Megaman 9, Ratchet & Clank: Tools of Destruction, Ratchet & Clank: Quest for Booty, and Resistance: Fall of Man) and I'll be set... it's not impossible... I hope. :P

It's not really weird when you consider that they just released the Vita HD remakes of MGS2 and MGS3, and the PS3 HD remakes of MGS2, MGS3 and Peace Walker, before that....Very weird indeed. It's been like what, 4 years now? lol

You're going to be completely lost. MGS HD Collection version has trophies, too..... Although, doesn't come with MGS1 (which you can get via PSN), but given your reply you'll hate MGS1 anyways. MGS2 comes with a recap that you can read that will fill you into MGS1's story, though. So, you can familar yourself with who Naomi is via that. I suggest just flipping the pages on the the first 2 stories to unlock the 3rd story. first text story is a summary of MGS1. Second story is a folly story focusing on comedy and is something like 100 pages long. 3rd story is a detailed recap that's about 300 pages long. (pages are based on your TV. Three pages equals about 1 page of a real novel....)

I actually gave the game away a while ago to a friend who's loving it now.
Honestly, I'll admit the reason why I gave it away is because I was terrible at it. :( Too difficult for me and I wasn't interested in investing in the time to learn the gameplay mechanics. Someday I'll pick it up again though (especially if there's a trophy patch).
I was planning on replaying it anyways, I guess I can wait a month. This is kind of cool, though I really don't think that they needed trophies.
Just when I thought I'm done with the awesome story arch of MGS from 1 - 4 + Peace Walker I see I have to play 4 again :D
I don't mind it and I hope this will be the beginning of MANY companies patching up their old games with Trophies. Would be very nice.
yeah im thinking of running through the five games again too.. even though i did that a few months ago :PJust when I thought I'm done with the awesome story arch of MGS from 1 - 4 + Peace Walker I see I have to play 4 again :D

It seems if you buy "The best budget version", it will support the full install rather than waiting for each chapter to load. I hope this is also included in the patch for people who already have the game.

you beat me to it. I might have to get this updated version if it is not supported in the earlier version patch.Since I'm going to replay the entire series again (Peace Walker, the first time), this just makes me look even more to playing the games.

Select to give the game a full install, and you won't have to wait between chapters for data to be cached to your system's hard disc. This lengthy caching, which was accompanied by an image of Solid Snake smoking, was a major complaint by players.
The budget re-release that includes the new functionality by default will be released in early August. The patch for current owners will also be offered around this time.
