Sony's adding PlayStation 2 backwards compatibility to the PS4

I am surprised. I didnt think it would ever happen. Good job sony.

Meh don't care, I didn't buy a PS4 to play PS2 games, I have a PS2 that plays PS2 games.

I have a slim ps2 but i have to remove one console and bring out component cables if i wanted to play ps2 games. Ton of devices already connected to tv. I also dont care for the wired controllers as i prefer wireless. I dont play ps2 too much but it is a nice option especially with ps2 great library.

it better be disc based Backwards compatability..

if its digital only that you need to buy the games from PSN then they can kiss my ass.

This is good that Sony is adding PS2 games, I'm guessing this is digital only like PS3 games. Glad I kept my PS2 and games, So I don't have rebuy them again.

PS now service is good for people who have missed previous PlayStation era's Since some people were not even alive due the first PlayStation era. Which will be the next to be added to PSNow

As far as i know no plans by Sony for backwards compatibility for it's next generation console.However XBOX ONE got a update yesterday for backwards compatibility.

Excellent news. Disk based would be awesome but the ability to replay two of the greatest gaming libraries, ps1 and ps2, pretty much eclipses xbone BC for me especially since i have a 360

I really hope it is disc based. That would be awesome. The upscaling is supposedly better than on the ps3

First I thought it was a great idea.. but I don't care anymore.

I've more or less moved on from my ps2 library, but there are a few titles I wouldn't mind firing up without plugging my old Mk I ps2 in for. I play more ps1 classics than ps2 - I very much look forward to playing them on my ps4, and hopefully the digital ps1 titles I bought on psn for ps3 will get cross-buy status so I can migrate further to ps4-only (the OS and controller are just so much better)

I guess that's good for people who don't have a PS2 or PS3 Fat. I still got my mine(PS3 FAT) so I'm good to go.

If Sony does this I'll be pretty happy.

My PS2 is probably going to die sooner or later but it's absolutely my favorite console ever. Back when games weren't trying so hard to be movies.

Hope it isn't just downloads but it probably will be.

When I hear backward compatible, I am thinking a system that is able to play older gen game. My slim and super slim PS3 aren't considered backward compatible (IMO) even though I purchased a couple digital PS2 games for my PS3s. The 60GB PS3 that actually played PS2 discs is backward compatible. I think it would be really lame if Sony wants to say backward compatible meant to buy old digital PS2 game for $10.

I know that the PS2 games that I would still want to play would never be put up to be resold on a digital store, so I only care about this if it is disc based.

Love to see Final Fantasy XII upscaled on PS4. My PS2 is already 12 years old and might die soon, so its a good deal for me :)

They are adding it the half baked way. By charging people for the digital version while they still own the physical version.

Just give me Suikoden VI, FFXII and Breath of Fire Dragon Quarter and Im all set.

Would be great if they brought in FF12 for it, then I'd sign up.

Sony loves to listen to their fans and give them what they want. Now we can tweet and give suggestions on what classic PS2 games that they can charge us $15 for.

Who wants disc backward compatibility for PS4 when Sony can simply charge $15 for games that we most likely already have? Cmon Sony! You are better than that. Thank goodness that I have my slim PS2.

They should just do what Xbox did, it's better to have bad graphics then having to pay for a game you already own for slightly better graphics
