it was safe for you to download the new patch about 2 weeks ago. you need to keep up with the news buddy. Right when the new patch came out you were able to download that. Even when the first defective patch came out a lot of my friends downloaded that patch and nothing happend to them so it was always safe. But if you wanted to make sure then you couldve downloaded the updated patch about 2 weeks ago.

... why does this happen after every firmware.

So less than 1 percent of people whom downloaded 2.40 had a problem with it. 2.41 then reduced that number again -- and yet and are still paranoid? Well you may aswell wait forever since every firmware update has the potentional to harm your PS3 ...
