All I ever want from a game is single player. Multiplayer is becoming overused and just tacked on in many game now, I can't understand anyone who would want a game solely for multiplayer over single player, it'sjust wrong...
I'd like to say I get games only for the sp, but most fps games have horribel storys so the mp sort of saves them. Granted, there are some good sp games, but usually not fps games. Games like Singularity and Dead Space it's all about the sp, but BC2 and others of the such are better for mp.
Single Player. Only played one multiplayer game for one round over the past year. It was NHL 10 and it was some kid screaming through a microphone at me saying I was cheating. Apparently the kid didn't know how to play real hockey, and didn't like me cycling the puck in the corner, lol.
I prefer single player over multiplayer because I don't have to deal with arrogant players who think they're all that.
I do love multiplayer games but single player games are my favourite because of the experience you get from it. Examples like Dead Space 2,Red Dead Redemption and Uncharted 2.
Wow, this has been such a random evolution for me. I originally started out playing SP and loved them. Then I got obsessed with BF 1943 MP and BFBC2. I basically played those and nothing else for almost 9 months! Then, after seeing a couple games I really wanted to play, I fell back in love with SP. There really is nothing like submersing yourself in a story and really "escaping" when you have free time. When PSN went down, I went back to my collection and realized there were like 4 really great games I had barely touched.
I guess I have to say now it depends on my mood: MP for when I'm feeling social; SP for when I am truly escaping!
Multiplayer. Bought the PS3 thinking I'd play all these single player games but it's the multiplayer games I keep loading up.
Most of the single player games all feel too linear, the single player comes off as spoon fed - go here, do this, kill this person, blah blah blah.
Playing against bots is fine but they can't compare to the challenge of playing real humans and for me, that's what's more fun.
Anyone can finish Mass Effect 2 but finishing 1st in a game of Blur or Black Ops, that takes a little more work.

Well, I have nothing against mp, and actually play it quite often, but your final comparison is pretty off. COD and ME2 are completely different, and playing ME2 on the highest difficulty isn't overly easy, though it isn't impossible. ME2 is all for the story and character development, while COD is basically made for the mp anymore, which isn't a bad thing, just a bad comparison of the two.
i prefer SP but ideally a game should have both - and both done well at that. it's about having a complete package and i personally don't see why i have to choose.
