Single player by far, I like a story. Most multiplayer is respawn which means you die and go find the guy that killed you for the most part.

All I ever want from a game is single player. Multiplayer is becoming overused and just tacked on in many game now, I can't understand anyone who would want a game solely for multiplayer over single player, it'sjust wrong...

I'd like to say I get games only for the sp, but most fps games have horribel storys so the mp sort of saves them. Granted, there are some good sp games, but usually not fps games. Games like Singularity and Dead Space it's all about the sp, but BC2 and others of the such are better for mp.

Singleplayer by quite a long way, even a game that has a relatively bad storyline i can enjoy and appreciate but i do like Multiplayer i'd say it's 65/35.

MP for me. It keeps the game alive and fun. If there was only SP, it would get old for me really fast.

Single player by a mile. The only multiplayer games I enjoy are MMOs or games I can play locally with a couple friends or my wife.

Single Player. Only played one multiplayer game for one round over the past year. It was NHL 10 and it was some kid screaming through a microphone at me saying I was cheating. Apparently the kid didn't know how to play real hockey, and didn't like me cycling the puck in the corner, lol.

I prefer single player over multiplayer because I don't have to deal with arrogant players who think they're all that.

I do love multiplayer games but single player games are my favourite because of the experience you get from it. Examples like Dead Space 2,Red Dead Redemption and Uncharted 2.

I really enjoy the immersion of a single-player game. The story, world, characters, none of which are usually found in multiplayer, or at least not to such an extent as any single-player game.

I've always been a SP gamer, and always will be. I get much more enjoyment out of playing through a good quality SP campaign with a good story to follow then dying over & over on MP games.

Wow, this has been such a random evolution for me. I originally started out playing SP and loved them. Then I got obsessed with BF 1943 MP and BFBC2. I basically played those and nothing else for almost 9 months! Then, after seeing a couple games I really wanted to play, I fell back in love with SP. There really is nothing like submersing yourself in a story and really "escaping" when you have free time. When PSN went down, I went back to my collection and realized there were like 4 really great games I had barely touched.

I guess I have to say now it depends on my mood: MP for when I'm feeling social; SP for when I am truly escaping!

Multiplayer. Bought the PS3 thinking I'd play all these single player games but it's the multiplayer games I keep loading up.

Most of the single player games all feel too linear, the single player comes off as spoon fed - go here, do this, kill this person, blah blah blah.

Playing against bots is fine but they can't compare to the challenge of playing real humans and for me, that's what's more fun.

Anyone can finish Mass Effect 2 but finishing 1st in a game of Blur or Black Ops, that takes a little more work.

Well, I have nothing against mp, and actually play it quite often, but your final comparison is pretty off. COD and ME2 are completely different, and playing ME2 on the highest difficulty isn't overly easy, though it isn't impossible. ME2 is all for the story and character development, while COD is basically made for the mp anymore, which isn't a bad thing, just a bad comparison of the two.

Single Player games will always be better than multiplayer games for me. Most of my favorite games are single player only such as Mass Effect 2, Dragon Age, Heavy Rain, Fallout, Oblivion, and Bioshock to name a few. That's not to say I don't dislike MP. I understand the need for multiplayer in some games like Halo, COD, LBP, Madden, Street Fighter, Tekken, Borderlands, etc... However, there are just some games that don't need multiplayer such as Bioshock 2, FEAR 2 and 3, and so on and so on. In most games, multiplayer just feels tacked on and takes away from a possible great single player experience. Bioshock 2 is clearly a prime example of that. Single Player > Multiplayer.

I really enjoy a good single player experience that is able to draw me in with a great story and characters. However, these days, multiplayer is more important to me. I like something with high replay value that will hold my interests for a while. Multiplayer games are able to do that for me (although people online can get a bit aggravating so it's nice to have an outlet from them with single player games).

Wow, I'm actually surprised by the results I'm seeing here... I thought MP would be the clear winner nowadays, but it seems SP is still no.1. Hopefully the developers take note!

i prefer SP but ideally a game should have both - and both done well at that. it's about having a complete package and i personally don't see why i have to choose.

I like a good single player game more than multiplayer. The problem with first person shooters, is that normally only the multiplayer is any good. Resistance is the only FPS that has had a decent single player campaign in its games. Killzone 2 was okay but I preferred the multiplayer on that one.
