Since PS4 will now support USB 3 ext HD's, are these faster than the one it comes with?

Just debating on upgrading or not...

If you wanted the fastest option you could put in a SSD, although a 1TB SSD is like $300 or more.

But yes, a usb 3.0 drive will be slower, but really close in speed. You probably won't notice a difference.

7200rpm 1TB drives are under $100, maybe try that route.
