Should someone with a 26 inch 720p hdtv set play in 1080p on the PS3?

I ask this because I've had the TV for over a year..and the graphics look great and all in 1080p but the text and some things were a little too small for me...but when I set the resolution on the PS3 to be 720p I could read things a lot better and in game things were bigger but the graphics weren't as good as in 1080p (but not my much).

Is this because my TV is 720p? Or are my eyes just that bad...lol.

Thank you in advance, sorry if this seems obvious, its just that the PS3 allows me to go up to 1080p.

I want to get the game some day but whats the point if I cant get pass the main menu

If your tv is a native 720 then I highly suggest you never use 1080p.Most decent 720p sets allow 1080p input simply so you dont get a black screen when you need to change settings back to the native resolution.Your television is not actually displaying 1080p its just able to accept the input signal from the ps3.I have 3 720p monitors that all accept 1080p resolution and a 61inch 1080p and when the 720p is configured correctly and viewed at the right distance the difference is nominal.go back to 720p and change the settings on your ps3 for best viewing. What I find most when i encounter people having difficulty being satisfied with their monitors/devices is that are scared to play/tune their settings for optimal enjoyment.Play around and ask more questions but as a rule of thumb always output to your native resolution.
