Should I play bioshock 2 without prior knowledge of the first one?

Hi. I'm going through a problem a right now. i have bioshock 2 right NOW in my hands, but... am i missing too much if i haven't played the first one?

and, is the story in bioshock 2 good? tell me your experience with it please.

The story in BioShock 2 is great. From a story standpoint, you won't really be missing out on too much by not playing the first game. There's a few references you won't understand such as Andrew Ryan and Tennenbaum, but for the most part the story isn't connected to the first game. That being said, if you do have the chance you should really play the first game as well. The story is better than the 2nd, but the gameplay might feel a bit dumbed down compared to the second.

Right now before you play Bioshock 2 download the Bioshock 1 demo it will give a tiny insight to what you need to know.

Actually you should just pick up Bioshock 1. Play the demo first from the PS Store, if you like it, buy it. You can get Bioshock 1 for $15-$30. Great game by the way.
