I think this is the right place to post this.

My router keeps kicking me off PSN. It's a Lynksis WRT54G, V5, 4 port. I brought my PS3 Slim 120GB to my friends house and was never kicked off PSN. I don't know how to configure my router to agree with my PS3. Help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

First thing is the firmware for the router up-to-date with the latest firmware. It would help to have a little more information about the set-up.

I just downloaded the newest firmware. But when I click to have it start to update, it says windows cannot open this file. I don't know what to open it with.

If it's the correct firmware the routers software should retrieve the data needed on it's own.

It's the correct firmware that I have downloaded. I used to play my xbox 360 with this router when I played live. I never had these problems. Is there something special I have to do with the PS3?

I'm not familiar with that router but on my router I have to download the firmware to a file on the PC's HDD and then open the routers configuration/set-up page via the web browser and go to the update option then load the update from the HDD. It should be about the same with that router.

Does it give you an error code when it kicks you out? If its 800AD23 or close then it is to do with firewalling and port forewarding I think linksys have a settings page on them if you type in your router IP address (usually 192.168.1.1) into your browser The password/ etc will eitehr be on the router or just admin/admin for username/passowrd I had this all the time with my BT Router but i set my PS3 as DMZ and have had no problems since :D

New problem. When i go to restore my router, it says upgrade are failed (bad grammar lol) I applied the firmware, but it's not working.

The DMZ does work most of the time as long as everything is up-to-date. I have my PS3 in a DMZ as well but there still is some minor problems in my network. The only real fix for me is replace the router due to the lack of support and well out dated firmware.
