Midway couldn't predict that the economy was going tank. Neither could any other company that's shut down or filed for bankruptcy. From what I can tell MK vs. DC Universe is doing well... better than expected for most people. Hopefully, the economy will make a comeback and Midway can right the ship.
even w/ gaming sales at all time highs the economy is just ruthlessly destroying gaming companies left and right. it's a real shame to see some of these big name's going belly up. Midway RIP

a company filing for chapter 11 is different from the average joe filling for bankrupcy. Joe can get back on his feet after a set amount time in which all of his credit will be frozen (was it 8-10 years? i don't remember). midway, on the other hand, is in the process of liquidating assets to pay off debt. Everyone will lose their pension savings that they held in Midway options, and sales from Midway software will be used to put out credit fires from creditors, bond holders, and pref. stock owners. In the process of liquidation some people will still keep their jobs, but once the winding up process ends the comapny will cease to exist. Like circuit city, except quicker becasue midway doesn't have a lot of inventory or cap. assests.
Yeah RIP Midway. They lost me after Mortal Kombat 2 and the incredibly horrible console ports of SF: Rush & Rush 2049. If they would make an arcade perfect port of the 2 Rush games and have them play off the HDD (ie. NO LOAD times) then I might give Midway my money.
