Recovering PS3 data from old Hard Drive, putting on new PS3?

My old PS3 got died via YLOD roughly 16 months ago on my old 80gig PS3, and I was wondering what the best way to get the old save data from its hard drive is. I got a new 160gig PS3, if it matters. I just want to get back those Demon's Souls characters I poured so many hours into :)

Try slaving the drive to your computer and see if it reads it. If it does, grab the files and transfer them back to the working PS3 drive.
