Ps3 wont reset and just switches off!!

Having just procured a new Tv for my son,he plugged into the HDMI into his Ps3 and the Tv and began to use it.

He then spent a heady afternoon playing and then switched it off,he came back to it some time later and nothing ,no signal,no nothing.

Now we have tried a brand new cable and nothing,so we tried a reset .

We held the button down red light on,green light comes on wait..wait wait and nothing and then after about a minute of holding it switches off!!

any advice would be greatly appreciated.

@redend49: Your doing the steps wrong, you don't wait 1 minute, its only 5 seconds.

@GTR12: nothing works when I hold for 7 seconds nothing when i hold for less or more nothing but then it turns off ,I know the steps but nothing works!!!!!!

@redend49: You don't know the steps, because you would know that you don't wait.

You listen for 2 beeps when you hold the power button, if it doesn't beep, your doing it wrong.

@GTR12: so I hold it from red nod then it goes green 1 beep,wIt 5 seconds 2nd beep yes? Done this no beeps,nothing,nada!!!!! Just turns off

That's wrong.

Can you even read what step 3 of that guide says?

With your PS3 in standby mode, turn your console on using the front power button and hold the button down.With the button held down, You will here one beep when the console first turns on, and, after about 4-5 seconds, you will here a second beep. When you here the second beep let go of the button.

@redend49: mine does the same thing and I’ve heard no second beep either. 5 seconds,7 -1 min still nothing and just turns off. I’ve also noticed that I have no second green light. Something is dead
