I think you're disk drive is broken. If you're console is under warranty/guarantee ,then Sony will replace it for free.

it happened to me and to three of my friends. contact sony, they should give you a refurbish unit if your ps3 is still under the warranty.

Well, search for the Sony number where you live and ring them up anyway. Give them your PS3 serial code (on the back of the console) and they should be able to do something for you.

The exact same thing happened to me. It just one of those things that happens to some unlucky people. Don't worry, you didn't do anything to break you're console (at least, as far as I can tell from your post)
