Yes it will work, but you might run into some region locked stuff if you're planning on using it for anything else than strictly PS3 games.

u'll probably need different cords so that they fit into american plugs and stuff...unless it's only europe where they have freaky outlets....

but yea, if u can read whatever language it's set in, go for it.

actually....you can change the system's language can't you?

wouldn't the system be expensive with shipping? it has to go overseas and all....then again, idk.

hmm...i don't c y it wouldn't work. If it works there, it works here.

what would suck though is if you had a problem with it. You COULD possibly end up having to mail it back to asia to get a repair/replacement. that would take...a long time.

But don't worry, it's not common at all and, barely anybody gets it. This shouldn't stop your brother from getting a PS3 like the 360 does with it's RROD.

you know that ps3 is a machine.. and there isnt an indestructible or un-flawable (lol) machine, right? ps3 may overheat.. it happens some times and to some guys.. but it is rare... but happens..

You'll be able to play most games (might be some PSN titles that don't) but you wont be able to play a lot of blu-ray movies, theyre region locked

What he said. Just be sure of the volts. I'm from asia (Phil.) and just as cool steam said, most PS3s' here (Cebu, Philippines), are actually from the US. Just ask your brother bout the volts. I think any appliance/electronic store would have a converter. Not sure though. Good luck!
