I heard that installing Linux on your PS3 pretty much turns your PS3 into a home computer and I would really much like to download it but what is the right Linux for me? I heard that Yellow Dog Linux was built for people who have HDTVs and I myself have one however, is this the best choice?

Yellow Dog is a good linux for the ps3, just don't expect it to run amazing. It runs it like a regular computer instead of using all the cores, but still fun to play with.

I heard it only works for 60GB, 40GB and 80GB PS3s. Is this true? I have a 20GB that was upgraded to a 160GB, so it wont work on mine?

alright MY sugestion in this matter, being that i'm probably the only one here who runs linux in a pc, is that you use ubuntu. Ubuntu is the most popular/user friendly linux version available, and they have a ps3 specific build. There are instructions and walkthroughs if you search for them, and they are pretty easy. Just keep in mind it takes some time, because you have to format the hard drive and all. Also if you want to use linux, i suggest you try to install in with an HDTV, particularly because if you try to make it work in a regular TV it will be painful and you'll get pwned. (ANY PS3 LINUX BUILD USES THE HDMI PORT BY DEFAULT, IF YOU WANT TO USE THE A/V CABLE YOU HAVE TO MODIFY IT IN COMMAND PROMPT SCREEN)

I would suggest you install ubuntu 7.10 in your pc and use it for a while, that way you'll know what you'll get for the ps3, and get a fresh view into the wonders of open source code that is linux, which is absolutely free of M$ robbery.

Games: COD4, TOB, RFOM (had RR8 and R6V but traded them for TOB)

Yellow Dog Linux is available for download here. You can get an install guide (pdf) from the same site. More help is available here and here. As you can tell by the links if you have no idea about Linux you really need to do some reading. It's a great UNIX like OS _but_ if you've never used a UNIX or UNIX like OS before you really need to take the time to read up on it and see if it can do what you want.
