Oh god they look bad. Even if you don't force the PS3 to fill the whole screen, the picture quality is borderline unplayable at times. In the past I have had to swap back to a SDTV as this seems to make things a lot better.

Thing is, I can load up any old classic on the PC and simply shove the game into a super high resolution to get an acceptable picture. Why can't the PS3 do this for old PS1 games?

I just use a standard HDMI cable. Would love to get back into some old classics, but the image quality is just too bad...

it doesn't look that bad at all, i've played through Crash Bandicoot 2 and 3 with no real problems. How big is your HDTV anyway? mine is a 32" 1080p Viera, If you have a 46" or larger i think thats where your problem is.

When I played Legend of Dragoon on my PS3 with an 850 series samsung 46 inch LCD, it looked basically like a larger version of an SD display, complete with Jaggies and horrendous 10 year old polygonal graphics.

No amount of upscaling is going to make a PS1 game look good.

That's true but sometimes it's hard to enjoy a game that hasn't aged very well. I mean if I look at Tekken 1 on PSone and Tekken 3, obviously 3 is the one I'll play because it aged better and well cause it's a better game. There are some PSone games that still look great for todays standard and even look better than some PSP games.

Imo, you can play almost any SNES game today and still have fun because it aged very well but the PSone and especially N64 have many games in their early 3D stages that are just ugh. I mean OOT was my first game but it bores me to death nowadays.

I dunno, I kinda call shenanigans on that. I'm replaying Majora's Mask at the moment, and I think it still looks good. I get all nostalgiac though, so it depends on the player. I replayed FFVIII a few months ago as well, and again, the polygons and texturing didn't bother me, I thought it was awesome that I remembered when that game was state of the art.

All depends on your point of view I 'spose.

I played Crash bandicoot 3, final fantasy 7, rayman and a couple others on my 40inch 1080p and they didnt look too bad. Final fantasy 7 looked pretty decent.

I even played Rayman on our 1080p projector displayed on a 92" screen and it wasnt bad, but Rayman is a 2D game so the visuals wouldnt be hurt too badly.

i was just about to mention the PSP as a wonderful alternative. The screen's resolution isn't that far off of the PSX game's resolution so it scales really really well. Just don't play in widescreen, it's terrible. That's about the best you're gonna get apart from hooking up the good ol' tube tv to enjoy some psx classics... although for that you really have to use the original system and everything. I still have my psx hooked up in the garage to the 20" for some old fashioned nostalgic orgasm

I know it was aking alot just to get classica on the ps store.....its been 3 years now and still there is only a handful of titles to choose from? I thought there would be 100's................

Its almost pointless if they do not HD up the games a bit and add trophys.........

Like Bionic Commando re-armed......That game looked and played great.....

DO THAT FOR EVERY PS1 GAME AND I THINK IT WILL BE A BIG DRAW!

Games dont have it today,,,,what games had back then.....
