I am planning on buying a ps+ for my vita (I also have a ps3) so that I can access the free vita games. I know that you have access to these game as long as you subscription to ps+ is active.

Could some one tell me is there is an always on requirement with respect to internet based drm checks? I am travelling soon on a 72 hr journey (flights with countless stop overs) and free access to internet is not guaranteed. So if I download the games on to my memory stick and turn off wifi, will I still be able to play the games?

thanks

I've played PS+ games while offline on the PS3, so I'm sure it would work the same for the Vita.

Yes they work online offline whatever.

basiclly how it works is that your ps vita/ps3/4 is on a timer from the moment you sign up for ps+ to when it ends, so when you download the games, there is a timer for that game to stop working on such a date at such a time, this all gets renewed when you buy another year and so on, so when your offline your perfectly fine playing it because the internal clock is still running and keeps tabs on it.

There does seem to be an online check for PS+ games. When I had no internet for a month, I lost access to my PS+ games because it could very them with my account, but this was at least a week without being connected, so I'm guessing every 7-10 days Sony does a background check just to make sure you connect. But as soon as you connect, the games re-license, it takes like a second or two. 72hrs though shouldn't be an issue.

I've played my PS+ games offline, but only during short outages (PSN maintenance).
