playstation 3 regional lockout [GTA V]

I`m planning to pick up GTA V in US (i live in Europe) but i dont know if US games have regional lockout (we are talking about PS3 version) are there any problems w/ game it self or w/ DLC`s?

There is no region locking on the ps3 - you could buy your games in Tibet and play them in Istanbul if you wanted.

This actually isn't 100% true... 99% true though.

Almost every single game on the PlayStation 3 can be played on a PlayStation 3 from any region of the world. GTAV however might be one of the rare exceptions. I'm making this assumption on the fact that GTA4 was one of the rare exceptions to the rule.

Normally it's safe to assume a game will work... but like I said, GTA has a record for being pretty much the only game out there to have software encoded region lockout.

Yeah, there are very rare exceptions (I remember Atlus having a game that was an exception), but generally PS3 is region free.

Persona 4 Arena is the only region-locked PS3 game.

However, you should keep in mind that DLC for most games, bought from EU PSN, will only work with EU versions of the game.

ok but what about let`s call it "DLC updates" (eg HIGH LIFE DLC for GTAV) i am 100% sure that V i region free but now i am worried about these DLC`s :(

so if i make an account via my phone in the US it will be recognized as an US ACC or i should make it via ps3?
