Why not go for a low end hdtv? You can find some decent prices on the smaller screen sizes. I have a 24in HD monitor for gaming and it is great. I do wish I had gone for a 32in hdtv though. Depends on your budget and size requirements.

If you plan on using it as a monitor, probably just get a monitor.

If you want to have a cheap 3D set, then that Playstation 3D display sounds pretty cool (especially when it was $299 and bundled with some games, that was a very good deal!). Keep in mind that Sony 3D dispay is not a television, so you can't watch TV on it unless you have an external tuner. As a computer monitor it would also be inferior to a true LCD or LED PC monitor that you could get for the same price. The only thing it really offers, as far as I know, is it's by far the cheapest 3D gaming/blu-ray watching option.

Get the Playstation 3D monitor only if your really big into 3D gaming. But a PC monitor will do you just fine for standard gaming. A good HDTV will come with PC inputs anyway.
