the ps3 has a very good cooling system it should only overheat if you keep it in a cramped space with no where to vent air

do not put it in an enclosed place. as long as there is adequate ventilation, it will not overheat.

PS3 has a minimal overheating issue in its history, but if you want your PS3 to maintain cool its a good practice as it keeps the PS3 on its optimum performance level & prevent wear therefore increasing its lifespan.

Some of the ways t keep the PS3 cool are:

  1. Make sure that the PS3 exhaust holes and inlet holes isnt block and has enough room for heat dicipation.
  2. Lower the temperature of the air conditioning system in the room where you play PS3.
  3. Buy a PS3 intercooler add on accessory for the PS3, there is one coming soon from Nyko.

Yes it is normal particularly on the lower extension of the PS3's right side where the exhaust holes are.

Simple, you should not have to keep it from overheating.

Just don't wrap it in saran wrap and turn it on....or stick it in a box or something.

Really? How hot would you say it normally gets around there? Mine gets near burning to the touch. I'm not sure if it's ever really overheated though since I tend to turn it off when the high powered fans start kicking in...

From all I've read, just keep it in an open, well ventilated area, keep it clean, and avoid humidity/excessively hot temperatures...

In terms of overheating..This should answer your question.

And keep it well ventilated and you cant go wrong.
