[QUOTE="nicenator"][QUOTE="Prinze"][QUOTE="thageneral3"] [QUOTE="Udsen"]It's cool and everything, but why do we need a PS Phone?duffman0084
Didnt you ever think that the only the the PSP was missing was a phone :o
Anyway, what carrier would it be for? Sprint? T Mobile?
I would guess Sony Ericcson, which kind of sucks because I am very happy with my T-Mobile service.
AFAIK, Sony erricson is just the make of the phone. The carrier could well be anything.
By the way, has this actually been confirmed? Because i read the article and as far as i could tell, it was just the Sony execs saying it would be a really good idea.
if sony ericsson makes the phone then the service would have to be at&t formerly known as cingular. All their phones are released only for at&t
This is NOT TRUE - there are several other carriers with Sony Ericsson phones (such as Centeniel and T-Mobile has had a few SE phones). However, Verizon, Sprint and Nextel is out - SE doesn't support that technology since they are a GSM / UMTS technology provider only (since a few years back).
Most likely - AT&T, if T-Mobile will ever want to make a splash they could try to get this exclusive. T-Mobile spent a few billions on spectrum not to long ago and will launch UMTS in that spectrum to try to compete.... I think the other carriers are all to small to go for this.
Disclaimer - if SE decides to revert the prior business decision and develop within the CDMA realm then of course other carriers would be an option, but this is highely unlikely
