So looking forward to getting this game. Regardless of the score, I would have gotten it and loved it as much as I did all the other MGS's, but the ten makes it that much sweeter, and is well deserved.
I will say, however, that maybe now people will stop whining about Gamespot being biased toward 360, and maybe just wake up to what I've been saying all along. PS3 just took a while to come out with it's A-list games, and now that it has with MGS 4, it's getting the high scores. That's all. Not that Gamespot is full of PS3 hating 360 fanboys, but that it took PS3 a while to hit their stride.
I think GameSpot has been giving out high scores way too loosely nowadays. Don't get me wrong, while I don't own a PS3 and I'm pretty sure MGS4 is actually really good, GameSpot has just been giving out way too many high scores lately to call them credible. I don't know of any game that is really that good enough to recieve a 10/10, not even Grand Theft Auto IV.
Well, after the spate of undeserved perfect 10s for GTA IV (great, great game, but definitely not 10 material), I will be taking this with a grain of salt. I've got two friends flying into town just to play through it with me, so I have to wait until Wednesday to fire this thing up... I guess I can always get the mandatory install out of the way and check out MGO (beta sucked, so we'll see).
Well this is a slap in the face (in the very very good way). I didn't expect this at all. If any game deserves it, it is most definately Metal Gear Solid 4.
I think it truly deserves a 10 (at least at Gamespot) cause it is way better then 9.5, but they have no in increments anymore. So 10 is the only way to go. The one thing I don't get is how some think it doesn't deserve a 10 because it may not appeal to every player.
The game is the best looking game ever. Period. The buttons are easy to get. Shoot or sneak. Thats it. Now if you don't get the story how can you expect them to go over the whole thing while wrapping up everything? Come on! Just wiki it and then play. 10/10 is what it deserves and I am glad gamespot realized that.
Great, now let's see how many people will claim Gamespot has been paid, but I know they haven't because I know how amazing this game is. Stunning game, and quickly becoming my all time favourite, and I know I'm not the only one who thinks that.
What can i say? Deserved! thats all! even if its not somebodys type of game, its doesnt matter, the game is a masterpiece, they have to come up with something more than a simple 10, for games like this :O:P
i was VERY nervous about wat gs would give this game
wen i see a TEN, a matter of months b4 they sed about gta4 "the last ten we gave since ocarina of time" (i think) im astounded. no one can complain about gf bias towards ps3 anymore
however unlike gta4 i think this game deserves it. fully.
now that ik gamespot, ign, and gamepro all gave 10/10's, i finally feel like a mgs game gets wat it deserves
I have a X360 and had planned on getting a PS3 when this game came out. So now more than ever I want it. Next friday is payday so that's the day. I can't wait.
after playing gta i dont think it was a 10 game at all so i hope im not disappointed with mgs after the so high expectation a 10 gives...then again its just someone else oppinon..

Man, I bought the game, played it for 30 minutes (busy schedule at work) and then went back to watch the videos released on the PS Store, and the game has a sharper image than the videos. I was blown away in every aspect of it. I want to have a good run so I'm saving it for my vacation. ;)10/10 AWESOME
As soon as I got home from Circuit City and popped in the game, I knew that this one was a keeper! Good thing I got the free guide, this is one game where I feel I will need a little help from time to time. Good job 10/10. Yes in deed.
I usually don't do this, but PERFECT 10 FTWWWWWW!!!!!! We waited for a long time for Gamespot to give a ps3 game credit, and here it is, the first AAAA exclusive title in the last few years.

But 10 doesn't mean perfect. It means that no meaningful improvements could have been made at the time the game came out. That's why Gamespot should have stuck with the .1 rating system so near perfect games could have gotten high 9s. If Gamespot had the .5 system from the start, there would be a lot of games that would have gotten a 10 (I'm looking at you NFL 2K :)) That would be a little rediculous.

I agree with you. I only care about IGN, Gamepro and Gamespot reviews and they delivered. This game is the must buy title that the PS3 needed and the 10/10 is the score it deserves, not a hyped score like GTA4.
Per the IGN review, this would be a game worth of 11 if an 11 could be given. So yeah, 11(rating in every MGS4 player's heart)-1(GS auto adjustment for PS3 exclusive)=10.
