No, it isn't but they can't take it out via firmware updates because that would mess up those of us that do have PS3s with full BC. Besides, on the off chance down the road they decide to start selling PS2 games on the store (not saying they will but one never knows) then things are in place for the virtual memory card.

Oh okay I get it. There is that rumor though about buying PS2 games from the Playstation Store. Hope it comes true.
