New Batman Game is Prequel set in Silver Age

Hmm... Interesting indeed.

I feel a little disheartened at this news. A little odd considering I've basically platinumed Arkham City twice over (Two save files with everything done, including new game plus and challenge maps on both), and is currently at the top of my favorite games of the generation. But I was hoping RockSteady would branch out a bit and do something different.

Still, if they are set on doing another Batman game, this sounds like an amazing idea. I really hope Batman has an old school-ish Bat-suit to fit the Silver Age, yet not make him look too ridiculous or un-stealthy. And dear god... this would be THE definitive Batman game if we are given Gotham City to explore. It makes me salivate just thinking about it... I had to settle for Lego Batman 2 a while ago! And I think the end of Arkham City was a really good end to the "Arkham" tale, so this prequel talk just gets me more and more excited. If only the unnecessary Harley Quinn DLC didn't come along...

And what will they call it? Joe Schmoe gamer will have no idea this is apart of the same series. Not the best SEO. I have a title proposition... "Batman: Be4 4rkh4m Asylum." Why the 4's? Because of that horrid iOS game, Arkham City Lockdown, of course.

The will just use old characters from back in the 40s and 50s.

I'm very excited for this. The Batman Arkham games are easily some of the best games this generation and I look forward to seeing Superman and the Flash along side Batman this time.

If RockSteady is doing it, I have no fears. I've not played AC yet so I have that to look forward to (been waiting for the GOTY Edition, and a price drop cuz I'ze CHEAP). The "Arkham" games have been pretty brilliant and bulletproof. I'm just rooting for an appearance of the Giant Penny!!!

Sweet. Sounds cool. I am glad they are switching it up. I will play AA and AC again before this comes out. Its interesting that they said 2014 at the earliest. Thats a pretty lengthy dev cycle unless they just now started it, which I doubt.

They're probably working with a new engine and aiming at next gen consoles so development might be trickier this time around.

On one hand, we can say goodbye to seeing any resolution to the Hush and Azrael sidequests in Arkham City soon, as well as all the Scarecrow easter eggs.

But on the other hand, it can be used to set up Mark Hammil's replacement as the head Joker voice, John DiMaggio. And hopefully beat up Superdouche with kryptonite gloves.

while i dont mind a prequel im worried about it being set in the silver gae. iirc that was a rather goofy time for comics batman in perticular. lots of "gee golly bat man" and other corny dialog ect.

Yea i'm not to sure on this one, just for the fact i think aa and ac are awesome batman games, but i think now it's time to leave it and move on and do another comic book hero, i mean i think for batman everythings been done to make him great in the game world it's time to make another hero become great, superman game would be great if they'd do it right, but i kind of like the whole play as both the hero and the civilian, like i'd love it that we had played bruce wayne aswel as batman, yes i know you play him a little in ac but i'd of loved it as a build up to becoming batman, i think it'd work well in a superman game, as in most comics have the story of the 2,
