well i have a 40 gig ps3 and i have 9 gigs left. so im going to get a new hard drive. i have about 85$ and i think i need a SATA 2.5 hard drive. i would like about 160 gigs but i dont know if certain brands or types play better than others. if any one thats done this tell me which ones they got. also links to some hard drives would be nice.

Laptop hard drives is what you want to use. just go to newegg.com and find a sata HDD that fits youre budjet

I'm pretty sure that hard drive will work. Not exactly 100%, but I think it will. If not, I know this one will- http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822149073

The one from your link looks fine as long as you dont mind refurbished products.

If i was you, the one on amazon would be my choice, its new and not a refurbished one like the other you linked... But they both work in a Ps3

what about the 2nd one. im new to doing things like this so thats why i cant really do this on my own cause im only 14.

This is what i did to extend my 80gig it uses an external approach works well.

They tell you to reformat the drive to FAT32 and then name the folders PICTURES, MOVIES, GAME ext just like the ps3 does, found it pretty interesting.
