i think gta 4 looks awesome but i don't get how liberty city can just be different now. is it just an "updated version" or is all the old liberty city still there and they just added on? i could see that to make the most sense. maybe all the new stuff is through that tunnel by the dam in shoreside vale. who knows? will there even be the same islands or islands at all? i don't know
GTA I, II, and III all took plce in liberty city. Its like the starting point for each "new" series. Its a version of NYC, and from my readings, 3 of the 5 bouroughs are going to be in the game.

actually 4 of 5 will be New York and one will resemble New Jersey from what R* has said.
