Eurogamer handed out like a few thousands of them. IGN handed out some to all the people that had a good game design.

that french site handed out a few as well.

There will probably be other opportunities along the road.

btw if that friend of yours that got LBP is a REALLY good friend. You can ask him to account share the psn account he used to download the beta.

That way you can download the beta through his psn account.
