Hmm, i have a similar issue...
I live in Thailand although i am a British Ex-Pat... I bought my PS3 around 4-6 weeks ago here in Thailand, and will be moving to Cyprus (re-locating) in about 3 weeks.
I'm glad to hear that the games are region free but obviously both BlueRay & Regular DVD movies are both region specific, more importantly, PAL, vs NTSC. My system is NTSC and so will not play PAL movies, which is a pain in the ass as most of my home movies are in PAL format. Also, i use a capture card on my PC to save stuff from the TV so i can burn as DVD (me & my wife were contestants on "The Amazing Race") so wanted to record each episode. I already tried those DVD's and they dont work, although i think my new version of Video editing software can convert PAL to NTSC & vice-versa.
I am seriously in the market for a HD TV with some money we won from winning a couple of legs on "The Amazing Race" TV Show so would like to spend it on a stonkin HD TV - once we get a top of the range 1080p HD TV we'll definately want to be watching stuff on BlueRay, i guess i may have to order movies from USA or ASIA or something to get around it?
Obviously renting BD from the local 'Blockbusters' or equivilant will be a no-no once we get to Cyprus.
God Damn IT! what's with all this region crap anyway? is there even any benefit to it?
I can't think of one....
Cheers
Andy

PAL/NTSC is a thing of the past with the new HD TVs, but region is still there, go to http://bluray.liesinc.net/ to know which Region A/Region B/Region C are indeed all zone, and that's a lot (70% I think).
I'm French (Zone A) and 80% of my Blu-ray are from USA and zone free, using HDMI cable there's no problem with PAL/NTSC, with a SD TV however the problem remains, have fun with the eye popping movies!
good shops that ship worldwide are amazon.com and movietyme.com
