Is my PS3 overheating?

Sometimes when I turn on my PS3 Slim, the the green light activates, but suddenly turns into a flashing red light with the system eventually turned off. I checked my manual, and it said that it overheated. The strange thing is that my PS3 isn't hot at all when I get this error. Plus , when it finally works, it works WITH NO ISSUES AT ALL. Anyone here knows what's wrong?

Sounds like sometimes it overheats, sometimes it doesn't, your lucky if it still works, just take precautions and get rid of whatever might be making it overheat.
