is my ps3 controller fake

So i have 2 controllers. 1 with the glossy finish and the other with a matte finish however all my cousins controllers have a glossy finish i want to know if the matte one is fake but it said it was the official controller on the the site and it has Sony on the controller. Is it fake and i have a link of the site i bought it on

To my knowledge Sony has never released an official PS3 controller with a matte finish - every Dualshock 3 I've seen has always had a glossy finish. I've heard about fake controllers being sold online that were pretty elaborate fakes - so your controller, based upon what you've said, I would say could definitely be a fake. If you could actually upload a picture or two of your controller that could probably help us get a better idea.

It's probably a fake. Don't feel bad , i bought 2 controllers on ebay for 15 euros each and when i got them i realized they were fake. The Left analog stick got stuck after i clicked on it too many times and now i can't move properly. :( If it's too good to be true it's probably fake. :cry:

Well hmm. I guess you'll just have to play with it and find out.

Looks genuine to me. If ozgameshop sold it as original PS product then I beleive it is real. They are not in the habbit of selling fake controllers stating they are genuine product. Just because the US doesn't have such a colour doesn't mean EU/AU can't have it. We often get different products to the US.

Actually after taking a closer look only one thing is different. The sticker under the controller. Mine has much more information, but besides that mine is identical in appearance.

i have been using it for about a month and feels and plays just as good as the glossy finish one but my cousin said it was fake i was just wonderinghardyz200

Same here. The underside of my DS3 has more info and a different text layout....like this one:

My original controller that came with my PS3 has very little writing on it and my second controller has even less. Both are genuine PS products. As I stated in my other post, different regions have different products and obviously different stickers.

Every thing looks correct except the label at the back. Could be from an earlier model.

I can't really see the label on your controller but I believe it's the newest DualShock 3 model, can you check if the label looks like this?
If it has 500mA it's the newer one and 300mA is the older version of DualShock 3 but still not as old as the original SIXAXIS. Compare with your other controllers.

Looks legit my controller has the same label and it came in the box with my 320GB Slim so I know its not fake.

I think that's an Asian Version controller. I have the same came right out of the PS3 box.

If not, then it's possibly what they call a Class A controller.

Don't mind it unless you bought it for $80-90 dollars. If you got below $30 then it's okay.

Just use it. If you invited guests in you house and wants to play PS3 let them use it. lol

looks like my one, mine has a matte finish. came with my 160gb ps3 slim so no chance it can be fake.. you could always open them up and compare the inards. i think the battery pack should give it away..

Mine are matte aswell, also inlcuded with my ps3.

If you have a yellow or Orange DualShock 3 then it is fake. Sony never released a DS3 in these colors. Plus 3 is always used not "DualShock III". Sony DualShock 3 Will be on the label.

The dull matte black controllers are fake. As are the orange and yellow DualShock III's
