It's an excellent prequel to Final Fantasy VII, but the battle system is sort of a hybrid between FFVII's and Kingdom Hearts'. No, you only play as Zack Fair throughout the game. If you've played FFVII, then some things will be spoiled of course, but it doesn't seem like you remember much about it. ;)

It's a great game. I've already spent more than 100 hours with it.

Man FFVII Crisis Core is arguably the best game on the PSP. And No Zack is the only playable character in the game. And it is also different from other final fantasy series, it has the DMW (Digital Mind Wave) system. Go and J

just get it, You wont regret it.

It was fun the first time through. Couldn't bring myself to play it again afterwards.

I really suggest any one who liked FF7 to get it, if not its a rental at best.. The gameplay is shallow of hack and slash fun, that is entertaining for a while but gets old.. The game does have some awful dialogue as well, on the part of Zack.. to me there are far more forfilling rpg games out there that you should try out before this one.

it is a good game. a warning though if you get frustrated easily dont play through on hard mode for your first time, i made that mistake and since im lazy i didnt feel like going back to normal so its taking a long time to finish.

I think its a buy, but as was said above you dont need that much stratgey so its pretty much a hack n slash game except for some of the harder battles. It doesnt play at all like previous FF games too and im split about the DMW. As much as it can be useful it forces you to rely on luck more than skill for certain battles.

The cinematics are damn nice too.

It also takes a little while to beat (story mode sint that long but if you do some of the side missions).

Nways thats my 2 cents ont the game

i got the game with god of war. at the time i was spoiled by god of war and i really didn't find crisis cores graphics that amazing. i simply wasn't wowed that much by the game and i was a ciritic of it up till about now. i played up to about half an hour before the end of the game but i got bored and didn't play anymore. i hadn't touched it in months and was content in calling crisis core quite an average game. but just last night i decided to just go and beat it and i freaking loved it. man what was i thinking? this is a darn good game and its worth playing. great music, great graphics, great fighting system and i honestly kinda liked the story even if it didn't really make any sense.

"Meh." It was kind of cool for awhile, but it misses that hook past FF games had, you know, the thing that made you feel like you're playing something special or worthwhile. Crisis Core has Nomura written all over it. Very shallow gameplay, all flair, with no substance. Cheesy J-pop things going on, metrosexual looking dudes with big swords flying all over the place. Sorry, but that's just not for me. I was sorely disappointed really. I wanted the ultimate RPG experience like past PS1 Final Fantasies, but Nomura and the team turned it into a linear hack-fest cinematic movie more than a true RPG game.

I also have been wondering this. Good reviews and a large fanbase seem to make it look good.

Bottom line is, if you're a big fan of FFVII and just want to play it for the story, get it. You'll like it. But if you're just looking for a really good RPG, it may be disappointing. But you never know. You may like it or hate it. You won't know till you try.

All matters considered, yes, FF7 Crisis Core is a good game. If your a fan of FF7- you should be able to thoroughly enjoy Crisis Core, if only for its story. If you aren't a big fan of FF7 however, you should rent the game first.

Gameplay wise, Crisis Core has a solid battle system... That is sabotaged by comatose enemy AI. As such, the main storyline is pretty easy since the basic enemies utterly fail to put a fight at all. The bosses are also plagued by this horrendous AI- but they are still fun since their attacks do pack a punch and will keep you on your toes- especially at the higher difficulty level.

I suggest you rent it first. If you really enjoy it- then definitely buy it, since the main storyline is decent length, and the side missions increase this length much further, making it a very good portable game.

I'm a big Final Fantasy VII fan, and I liked it quite a bit. It's overall a good game, kind of repetitive. It has a good storyline though. If you've played 10 and 7 you may enjoy it quite a bit for it's story, but it's a bit more action and a bit less RPG. If you liked FF7, definitly get it though.

Honestly, its by far the most fun i have ever had on a psp. It's so addictive and fun. The game allows you to play as Zack and Zack only
