Is anyone still using the PS3 regularly?

Hi guys,

I recently bought a PS3 and am playing through a variety of games as it is all very cheap now and has such a massive / amazing collection. I wasn't sure how into it I'd get so didn't commit to a PS4 but probably will do at some point. Anyway, if anyone else is still regularly using it like me it would be awesome to get you on PSN as I'm a bit fed up of not having many online friends since PS4 people don't show up. I use my ps3 still, uncharted 2+3, f1 2013 and the Sega collection are in heavy rotation.

yes. Primarily for Netflix, due to its lower power draw than my PS4. But I am also working through Shadow of the Colossus HD on it right now and will do Ni No Kuni next

I last used mine in January/February to play Sly Cooper Thieves in Time. I've since bought the Sly Collection for a few bucks and have that waiting to be played on the PS3. Otherwise I don't have too much use for it anymore. But I can't part with it since I have a decent game collection for it, even if I probably won't play most of those games ever again. Any game I want to replay I can just pick up the remaster once it's cheap lol.

@marble201: I still play tons of games on my PS3 regularly, there's a huge amount of people who want to carry on playing last gen. PS3 isn't dead yet.

I have a backlog on the PS3 which I'm meaning to get through but I also have a tonne to play on the PS4. Woe is me

i still need to finish Yakuza 4, and i also want to get Yakuza 5. Big fan of that series, but i never really get the time for it, so i need to make the time to connect my PS3 again.

Yeah, and I still prefer playing it to the PS4.

Pretty much to play Ratchet and Clank games and as a media player. It's still one of the best ways to watch mp4 files from a thumb drive.

@xantufrog: did the shadow of col hd remaster fix the lag problems from the original ps2 release?

Nope, mine's still in the box. The games are somewhere in the garage.

I'm not sure - I only played Ico on PS2 - this is my first time through SotC. What are the lag problems? Stuttering? Framedrops? - I haven't really noticed anything like that

@xantufrog: yeah, laggy frame shifts and overall slowish speed. Glad to hear its good on the ps3 though. I may have a buy a ps3 again just to play this properly lol.

I still use it for our living room as a primary media Blu-ray player (original 60gb version) and Netflix/ PlayStation Video Store Movies rentals - still works like a charm.

Yeah, I just finished Uncharted 3 a couple of weeks ago. And I'm still playing through Okami. I'm also going to re-play Battlefield: Bad Company 2 again soon.

I was still using it a couple of months ago where I got the urge to play back the uncharted games and MGS4.

unfortunately I will not continue to play it as I have gotten a job abroad and will only take the PS4 with me.

Ye boi I'm still on old gen, I'm re-playing my older games and I wanna be the very best, like no one ever was jk i pretty much **** around and do stuff that i usually didn't do when I first played them. the PS3 is the main gaming unit in the Coolyfett household. The upgrade to PS4 has not happened yet for the Coolyfett family. Thinking about buying a PSTV soon.

I did, but every since I replaced my old xbox 360, (Which needed to be done for three years now,) I've been playing through my old favorites, and with me trying to complete fallout 4 and Pok'emon diamond, I haven't had much time to do much else. I'll combe back to the PS3 soon, though, I'm sure of it,

Only for a few games. Killzone 3 is still fun even with bots. Red dead redemption because I don’t want to buy an xbone just to play that wonderful gem. And GTA4 because the pc port sucks. Oh and Twisted Metal and SSX reboots are fun too.

I use for Netflix, DVD / Blueray and the occasionnal MegaMan 10 play

I still use it now and then for the games that came free with PSN Plus but also been meaning to finish Dead Space as well

A lot of people use it. I use it from time to time. Download a free ps+ game or sneak an online game of Killzone 2 once a year lol. Eventually i will replay classic PS3 games like Dead Space, MGS4, GTAIV and V. It has a better game library than PS4.

Hell yea I still play my PS3! Currently playing Star Ocean: The Last Hope, Red Dead Redemption, and Valkyria Chronicles. Don't really have many MP games except for Borderlands 2 and One Piece: Pirate Warriors 1 & 2. Also trying to find a cheap copy of Ni No Kuni so I can play it before the sequel comes out soon

Wow. Great to see some ppl haven’t moved it to a dust collector! I went away from gaming for a few years ? but i recently gotten back to my love for it. There is so much experiences I’ve missed on the PS3 that i couldn’t jump straight into a PS4 (even that is about 5 years old now). I have a huge backlog i have committed to finishing in 2018.

I got Borderlands collection, all of AC up until Black Flag/Freedom Cry, Ni Nu Kuni, Mass effect 2-3, Killzone 2, Batman AC and AO, FFXIII-3, Enslaved, Binary Domain, RE Revelations 1/2, Last of Us, Tomb Raider, Kingdom of Alamaur, Far Cry series, prototype series, Castlevania LoS series, WatchDogs, Metal Gear V, Vanquish, & Skyrim.

@konspiracy187: welcome! PS3's an awesome machine. I wish the interface was more modern like the PS4's, but the library makes up for these dated aspects

@xantufrog: Appreciate it! Quick question - Is it worth it playing/getting Destiny : Digital Collection? I know it was a blockbuster game, I've read alot, seen a lot of forums/articles on it, & basically saying the Taken King made it worth a purchase, but needed to see from someone who may have played it before I tried it.

I'm also downloading the Demo atm.

I have that latest PS3 slim because my original died. It's a flimsy, cheap POS and I hate the slide CD door so I boxed it up. Would be a cheap system to collect for though.

I alternate between my PS2/PS3/PS4/PSVita/PSP/Xbox One.

All of them vertically standing nicely in a row on my desk.

The rest of my consoles are packed in boxes collecting dust because I have no desire to play them(Basically every Sega and Nintendo console LOL).

Good question. I know nothing about playstations, but my son wants a PS4, because supposedly PS3 is not "cool". I'd rather buy something cheaper...

I am playing everyday on ps3, it's a good console and it has a lot of good games, yesterday I played mortal kombat IX online, i hate mk servers.

I still play Mone weekly. I have a decent backlog for it so it won't be collecting dust for some time.

I sold my PS3 shortly after I got my original PS4. Once I started playing the PS4, it was hard to go back to the PS3 because the interface and OS of the PS4 were vastly superior to the PS3's.

Mine is in a cupboard somewere.
